A lovely tranquil temple which was a wekcome relief after the emotion of visting Hoa Lo Prison nearby. It's free to enter and well worth a visit. The decoration is incredible and almost sensory overload but it is offset by the calmness of the place.

The monk who hosted the temple then, had corridors built, statues painted, and bell made. The front palace is dedicated to Buddha and the rear palace is dedicated to the king of the Ly Dynasty.

It was great to have a private tour guide. He explained how pagoda and temples vary, the budas, the alters, etc. And answered a lot of our questions. Highly recommend a tour guide (and they are so inexpensive to hire).

This pagoda has some history and is just around the corner from the Hoa Lo Prison (aka the Hanoi Hilton). When I arrived I could hear chanting and when I looked inside there were probably 40 Sangha monks chanting. Small area but a pleasant and...More

A lovely, quiet temple. If you're visiting the prison which is just up the road this is definitely worth a visit, especially following the gloom of the prison this is a peaceful heaven. There are still monks in the temple and plenty of locals coming...More

This is an 17th century temple with an entrance gate in Ha Noi. It was built by visiting Buddhist ambassadors who called on the then emperor of Viet Nam. It is reportedly the central HQ of Buddhism in Viet Nam. It is an active temple...More

Happen to come across the temple when out walking, lovely and serene, locals use it regularly, it's well maintained and the Buddhas are ornate and colourful. I would recommend it to visit.
