Though not quite the same since a devastating fire in 1994, this famous market is nevertheless a landmark trading post.

I have always make it a point to visit the local market in many cities that I traveled to. Cho Dong Xuan is indeed a big market that caters to both traders, local folks & tourists. It is indeed a big market and biggest in...More

I usually seek out markets and think they are a good place to get a feel for a city. But this market is simply a wholesale market for the smaller stalls and not worth leaving the Old Quarter for.

It’s not for the faint hearted. Stall after stall of souvenirs, local products, fake goods, clothing, fabric, kitchen pots and pans can be bewildering. Go first thing in the morning. The building has air conditioning but go early to beat the crowds. Be prepared to...More

We asked around for prices but they seem quite expensive. We later found out that everything is actually more expensive in Hanoi than HCMC so it's a good thing we didn't buy anything here.

It is all chaos and crazy and everything you might expect in a market that sells everything from clothes to food to electronics, souvenirs, and toys.

The chaos isn't worth the trouble. Prices aren't that friendly either. Some sellers won't even sell to tourists. You're better off shopping at the weekend night market or the streets near by.

Dong Xuan is a local market located approximately 2km from Old Quater. 5 minutes walking distance from Skylark Hotel. The market basically has everything from clothes, bags, souvenirs, kitchen stuff etc. However, the prices there are expensive. At some shops, you can bargain but some...More

Actually the place need not be so huge because most shops are redundant, almost identical and sell the same things. Crowded and a fire hazard. Sometimes I got to walk sideways and sometimes impossible to walk around goods-obstacles. Took a quick look around, bought what...More

We are not big shoppers so this was not the place for us. We dud look for one obscure item and did not find it but eventually got fed up with the crowded aisles. Prices seemed to be very cheap.

100% of clothing and shoes in Dong Xuan market is imported from China. Dirty cheap price comes with unexceptionably low quality. If you want some better quality and made in Vietnam clothing, try some Made In Vietnam shops... More
