Apart from cafes and shops Hang Gai has a live theatre as well ... only seats about 30 for a 1 hour show.. so booking is always essential . If you want something hard to get .... this is the street you'll find it in.

Great place to visit. Lots of good deals but also lots of cheap, poor quality stuff. If shopping for silk stop by at Feeling Silk. They are on Hang Gai. Got nice silk and silk/cotton blouses that I love. I am not a easy shopper...More

Hand Gai is supposedly a fabric street but many more types of merchants have moved in since the old days. It’s one of the many streets of the Old Hanoi quarter and fun to wander through.

Nice selection of shirts, blouses and dresses. Owner was very professional and helpful. We did not try to bargain as prices seemed very reasonable for good quality clothing. She can also tailor to order fast.

Awesome street for clothing and fabric articles. Silk sleeping bag liners are plentiful and woven silk scarves. This street also has a mighty good selection of massage salons so shop and then drop in for a massage. Perfect!

Definitely get VND if you're in Hanoi or any other city in Vietnam. That's what the prices for items are usually listed as and you won't have to worry about the exchange rate on the street.

If I had to choose between the two, I would take USD. However, using your ATM at the many banks around Hanoi is your best option. Organize this option with your bank before you leave. Carrying around lots of cash is... More
