The One Pillar Pagoda is said to represent a lotus flower growing out of water. An extremely sacred temple, a visit to the temple and the surrounding gardens provides a quiet escape from the busy Hanoi streets.

One Pillar Pagoda was constructed in the early part of the 11th century during the Ly Dynasty and sits in the middle of a lotus pond. It had been reconstructed several times throughout the centuries, the last time in 1955 when the French left. The area of the tiny temple is only 3X3 m.

The one pillar pagoda is a nice place for a photograph during a visit in conjunction with a visit to th Ho Chi Minh mauseleum. The pagoda is very small and to many tourist try to get in on the same time. a small tourist market is close by.

Not raveable, but interesting to see. Cute that there is an ever so slight lean to it. All part of the HCM complex, in a little area behind the Mausoleum. Free to view, a few steps up and look inside.
