We visited the Perfume Pagoda complex in November, which is significantly quieter than during the New Year festival season in February-April and highly recommended. We were collected by coach from our hotel and made the 2.5-hour drive with a short stop for a toilet break. The journey is in fact only around 30 miles from Hanoi Old Quarter but once... More

I love to visit Perfume Pagoda in the begining of the year, when people go there and pray for their wish. I always choose weekend but not festival occasion to go there because of being not crowded. I buy ticket at the ticket station and choose one ferry. Relaxing along the Yen stream and enjoy the fresh atmosphere. I hear... More

PERFUME PAGODA (Chua Huong), the biggest pagoda complex in Vietnam and also one of the most important religious sites for Buddhist who make their annual pilgrimage here to pray for health & prosperity, The site is about 75 km south from Hanoi. The Buddhist temples and shrines was built into the limestone Huong Tich mountain of Hanoi area over the... More

We arranged the US$28 day trip from Hanoi with Miss Ly's Travel Agency - an exceptional English speaking lady who has a travel agency in Hanoi (84) 976 138 900. We were picked up from our hotel in Hanoi in a small bus with English speaking guide (very good) at 8am. We traveled the 1.5 hours to Perfume Pagoda with... More

The bus ride is long from Hanoi but the boat ride on the river is very pleasant. We had been told that the walk up to the pagoda was difficult so we paid the extra for the cable car. Don't let them kid you; the walk up to the cable car and the walk down to the cave are probably... More

Nice drive out from Hanoi followed by a row up the Perfume river. However to get to the Cable car that takes you up to the Pogada requires a climb up about 1klm of steps. Once up the top there is a steep climb down 320 steps to the Pagoda and then the climb back up. However well worth a... More

Enjoyed the tour but felt it was too long. Would have preferred half a day. The boat trip down the river as approximately one hour and quite slow and very hot

This trip was an exceptional way to see the countryside of south Hanoi. The visit to this sacred site was truly awesome one I would class as a must do. Loved the drive from Hanoi, which revealed much about rural and farming life. The one hour boat ride (each way) was wonderful and the walk to the pagodas very special... More
