Overlooking a lovely little square surrounded by varied cafes and a glimpse of Vietnamese life - we were there over Easter and the square was decked out in ribbons with children selling painted home-made Easter eggs. Not necessarily worth a separate visit, but worth passing by if you're walking in the area.

St Joseph hosts a big catholic community and hence, Sundays are busy at St Joseph. The cathedral is built in French colonial time and reminds Note Dame de Paris. The inside is much brighter though and it is a must see place along a Hanoi Old Town visit. You find a lot of Café or Restaurant options around the cathedral.

Didn't go inside but looks great from the outside. Hosts events on special days. Often has banners hanging in the front depicting a variety of scenes.

Its a beautiful cathedral, with the rustic exteriors adding a true character to this part of the Hanoi Old Quarters. A definite visit, and you could sit at one of the cafe balconies sipping Vietnamese coffee admiring the sunset overcasting the cathedral.

Beautiful inside, outside needs cleaning. We were surprised to see such a beautiful Christian church in Vietnam, to find out that there are many Christian churches in Vietnam Free and well cared for inside. Easy to find, not far from the lake, market and the military museum.

This is a french gothic revival cathedral built 120 years ago which try to imitate Notre Dame in Paris, built 800 years ago. Architecturally the result is not so pleasing. The cathedral is also in need of a major clean up on the outside. I could not see the interior as it was closed, and this occurs often. It may... More
