An interesting venue, with the Hanoi skyline on one side, street vendors on another and a historic temple beside it. Also, there were scenes of Vietnamese life - a boat going across with fishermen on board and an old lady with her catch of snails. Do not forget to visit the Tran Quoc pagoda with the Buddhist temple at the... More

A visit to the Westlake area of Hanoi is a visual as well as a culinarily valuable experience. Away from the crowds at Hoan Kiem Lake, the Westlake area has great restaurants and more peaceful and serene experience. You can bike the area without fear of being run over my a motorbike and a stop at Chu Van An high... More

Had walked from old town and needed a break so had lunch here. Too tired to explore but when we come back to Hanoi this area will be high on our must see list

The West Lake itself didn't do much for me, though its a good place to walk around if your into walking. I did like the some culture aspects found around the place, the older people carrying (empty) baskets on poles across shoulders while wearing the very Vietnamese identifiable field worker hat. They offered people to do the same and get... More

At my first night after eating and drinking at a restaurant, we went to the West Lake to have a more chilled out evening drinking juice/beer nearby! It was such a great experience sitting on the floor over looking the lake. At around 2 am though, the police went by and we had to 'leave' (basically, stand up and wait... More

Just wondering why don't most of travelers visit this lake. When we did the biking with VietnamCheapPackages, we just saw a few foreign walkers around the 27km round excursion. Visited the lake in the late afternoon and it provided an amazing image of what Hanoi locals usually do. Many people were coming back home from work, but on 1 side... More

A massive sized lake with interesting activities around the south side in particular, also on the water. Great for kids.

There are plenty of great restaurants, shops, bars and other attractions around the lake. The lake is beautiful too. I especially enjoyed it in the evening.

West Lake makes a great walk - the views are great, trees provide much needed shade from the sun, you get a chance to see some local life and try street food - if you spot Bo Bia bike, get yourself a roll! Pagoda is stunning and is one of the most beautiful and oldest in the city - worth... More

A place you must come when you are in Hanoi. You can enjoy the peace with a cup of coffee at a coffee shop near the lake
