The water puppets were fun and very skillfully maneuvered, but the novelty does wear off fairly quickly. Definitely worth a visit though if you are in the area though.

This is original but the commentary is in Vietnamese. It's cheap and cheerful and the musicians are very good.

I have to say I enjoyed this more than I thought I would. If you have a free hour I would recommend you see this show. Whilst the first puppet freaked me out a little, the rest all looked the part and provided an entertaining show with some elements of humour. For me, the live accompanying music was the best... Thought we would do something 'touristy' in Hanoi as we had a free afternoon. This was a lovely way to spend an hour relaxing in a air conditioned auditorium and being entertained by a puppet show. It was very different from anything I had seen before and would appeal to all ages but particularly families with children. The costumes, singing... More

Went to the water puppet show expecting so much more. Musicians seemed like they didn't care about their performance, just showed up and went through the motions, puppets did nothing special. Seemed like a Tour Bus Stop. Even the man at the door who was sending you to your reserved seat had no emotion, talked very little, never smiled and... More

It's very different to anything you would see in the UK but definitely quite entertaining. The majority is in Vietnamese but it's not too difficult to follow the plot. Also quite cheap at 100000VND. If you have an hour to kill then I'd recommend it but not a "must see" in my opinion.

We had no idea what to expect when we bought tickets, but we really enjoyed the show. It is the perfect length.. Much longer and you may start to get bored. Even though it wasn't in English, the show kept us entertained. We enjoyed the music as well. I would recommend it to anyone visiting Hanoi, because it is very... More

Just do it - buy tickets a couple of hours in advance and take a walk around the lake and enjoy the temple while you wait. The show is about 45 minutes and consists of little scenes taken from popular traditional stories. No problems to understand what is happening - great for all ages! Amazing art and entertainment!
