This area is great surrounding the tower, with Wedding photo's and a lot of thai chi in the morning, it's seen as a breath of fresh air for the city & is a great space to see locals in there spare moments.

This isn't exactly somewhere you can 'go' to, just a tower you can look across the lake and see. If you're not particularly interested in staring at old buildings then, maybe not a must see. If you're like me and you love historic architecture, you'll enjoy staring across the lake at it.

I have many photos featuring this tower. I wish we could go over to the island and see it up close. Very iconic image of Hanoi.

This lake is right in the middle of Hanoi. It is a nice walk to take on a good day and a great place to meet locsls and tourists. It touches the old and new quarters of the city. The island in the middle is what makes it interesting. Great photo spot.

In the middle of Hoan Kiem lake, this is probably the most photographed site in Hanoi. It has a tragic history behind and it is a very elaborate building which fits very well with the lake and the surrounding and enhance it.

The tower is a landmark in Hanoi, you won't miss it when you visit Hoan Kiem lake. Great photo opportunity. Take a walk around the lake and enjoy the peaceful scenery. The area around the lake is cordoned off to traffic during weekends, so its great time to visit. Lots of locals and tourists and local sights to see along... More

This tower stands in the middle of a lake in the very heart of Hanoi. Not being there, it would be just an ordinary body of water. With it, it's the most beautiful site in Hanoi, shown on every magazine and TV and probably the most photographed one. You cannot access it. Best pics are at night when it's lit... More

While you can't actually go to the tower, it's the center piece of the most iconic view of Hanoi. Plan your visit at night as it's a sight to behold with the lighting and crisp atmosphere around the lake.

This tower "makes" the lake giving it a focal point, especially for phtographers. The tower is visible from all points on the walkways that ring the lake..

This historic/ancient tower is situated on a small island in Hoan Kiem Lake, but is inaccessible. However, it's a pleasant photo opportunity, and Hoan Kiem Lake is a great place to walk around and soak up Hanoi atmosphere (mingle with the locals) or a visit to Ngoc Son Temple over the Red Bridge. So overall a worthwhile experience and good... More
