This Lenin statue in a park at Nguyen Thai Hoc avenue is one of the few remains I saw of a recent communist past here in Vietnam.

Now it seems Sony neon advertising are prefered to those old sovietic symbols... the signs of the times!

Good photo opportunity of Lenin. Though we don't share the same ideology, this is part of Vietnam's history. Nearby park is lovely and green and worth a walk through but be prepared as you may be approached by local vendors selling fruits and local wares. This statue is on the way to other attractions - Flag Tower, Military museum, Old... More

Whilst some have criticised Lenin in their TA reviews, I disagree because such would be dismissive of his part in history. We can not re-write history, just learn from it. The statue is impressive in usual form. The park in which it sits offers a peep into Vietnamese life in the mornings with Tai Chi and dog training. It probably... More

Politics aside, and don't forget where you are. Easily accessible to the side of Điện Biên Phủ and opposite the Flag Tower (of which you get a lovely view from here). Backs on to the peaceful (albeit average) Lenin Park.

Statue to honour a mass murderer ? Walk farther up the road. You might find one for Stalin and Polpot as well. Shameful..... Enough to see this, the city has no decency.

You'll pass it on the way to all the HCM stuff so you don't need to go out of your way to get there. What to say, it's a big statue of Lenin, does what it says on the tin. Nice

Across the road from the Military History Museum. Worth the 5-10 mins to get across the road and back to get up close with one of the dynamic political figures whose thoughts still have influence on Vietnam and definitely changed the world over the past 200 years.

Was not expecting to see this. Nice to look at and take a pic. But nothing else will only be a 3 star. Opposite the military museum

"I loved and admired Lenin because he was a great patriot who liberated his compatriots". So wrote Ho Chi Minh in his memoirs, Ho Chi Minh, who met Lenin when he went to Moscow in 1923, was to go on and introduce Communism to Vietnam, although he did not live to see the end result, the "liberation of his compatriots"... It is located in a pleasant enough park on Dien Bien Phu Street opposite the Vietnamese Military Museum. It apparently is there to remind people of their communist past although liitle could be found about its history.

Didn't really expect to see a statue of Lenin but he had a great influence on Ho Chi Minh so it makes sense that this would be here.
