The attractive shape of the only city gate remaining in Hanoi harks back to a time when the city was under siege. Walk through the arched main entrance of the Hanoi Old City Gate and imagine being one of the soldiers who heroically defended the city...more

The old city gate in Hanoi is definitely worth appreciating for a few moments, it’s just unfortunate that the city has not taken better care of this important structure.

Still in good condition. Only saw it because it was very close to the hotel I was staying at. Didn't know it's historical value until I read on trip advisor!. Pity the place is so trashy. They could've place a sign or a plaque..

When you’re nearby you can go and have a look at this historic landmark, but I would not advice you to solely come here for the ‘gate’.

Pretty and nice to see it remain, but certainly not as big as you think it will be. Pop by and see it whilst seeing the night market or beer corner, but don't make a special trip.

Although there was not much to see, it is still worth visiting there to get a feel on the old Hanoi City.

An interesting place to visit for history enthusiasts but it is in a very busy area with no information boards.

Not particularly interesting and lacks any signage or explanation that we could see. Is surrounded by bustling tourist shops and cafes, so you'd really need to go out of your way to look for it (if it's your kind of thing)

helps build the picture if you are trying to learn about this city, but the surroundings are not great!!

Not much is left of the old city walls, but this entrance gate remains. In a crummy neighborhood and with trash everywhere. Only if you're headed to the big market. Don't go out of the way.

Firstly, it’s on the wrong location in the TripAdvisor app map. With help of maps.me I could find it. This gate is in one of dirtiest corners of the Old Quarter. It does not have any architectural charme.
