About
On your guided tour of the Cu Chi Tunnels, you’ll learn about the history of this underground system. The tunnels were dug during the Vietnam War by Viet Cong soldiers as a way to move undetected and launch surprise attacks. Experience the tight squeeze firsthand by crawling through the tunnels, and fire assault rifles at the shooting range after. Pack bug spray and dress for hot and humid weather, arriving earlier in the day to beat the crowds and the afternoon sun. It's not recommended to visit the tunnels after a downpour, as the area will get very muddy.

- orrdinNew York930 contributionsFascinating experienceThe visit gives a very real sense of what the war was like from the Vietnamese side - their tunnels and how they lived and efforts to fight the Americans. Very realistic experience, especially if you venture into the tunnels. Need a few hours and the drive from Saigon is at least 1.5 hours each way.Visited October 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten October 5, 2023
- Eff BeeSingapore, Singapore80 contributionsMust SeeThe ingenuity displayed in the tunnel network was truly remarkable, albeit in a brutal context. It was refreshing to experience the anti-US narrative that contrasts with what Hollywood has often portrayed. The complexity and cleverness of the tunnel system were truly remarkable, shedding new light on the historical events.Visited October 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten October 16, 2023
- OscarhumanBristol, United Kingdom15 contributionsSurprising and tasty place to eat.Wandering around Saigon looking for somewhere clean but not European to eat, we spotted the sign for this place in an entrance to a mall. It’s on the 5th floor along with other food outlets so we were not expecting much but it was great: South Korean food, including a wide selection of vegetable starters plus meats/proteins (prawn, mushroom etc) cooked by staff on a barbecue set into our table. It was all delicious and remarkably good value. Staff were lovely too. I suspect they mainly cater for Koreans and local travellers as they didn’t speak much English - but that was all to the good as it felt more adventurous.Visited November 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten November 5, 2023
- Aloysius L40 contributionsDo Not Miss This Place. Must GoOnce we arrived Ho Chi Minh and check in. We head down to a nearby tour agency to booked a tour. The tour is just next day. Do remember to have your breakfast before the tour. Else, probably near noon you can get something at Cu Chi Tunnels cafe near firing site. Great experience in this tour. We returned back to the city around 230pm.Visited November 2023Travelled with familyWritten November 13, 2023
- David LBarwon Heads, Australia125 contributionsReally interesting! My wife and I enjoyed the visit and learned about the efforts made by the Viet Cong to defeat the US soldiers. Seeing the tunnels and understanding how extensive they were, was amazing. I went through them, which was a little challenging, but helped me to realise what they endured and how difficult they would have been to find. My wife and another tall guy did not - claustrophobic or too large. The guide and service were excellent. Well worth the experience!Visited October 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten November 17, 2023
- vintagechinaTemecula, California1,055 contributionsWhat an Eye OpenerI am not very knowledgeable about the Vietnam wars so this was a huge learning experience. It was fascinating to learn about the history and the extent of the tunnels. I have more understanding as to the nature of the war and how difficult it was for both sides. This exposure has really sparked my interest to learn more. To be able to go into a tunnel for just a few minutes gave a whole new insight. This is history coming alive.Visited November 2023Travelled with friendsWritten November 21, 2023
- AudsBT23 contributionsLeaves one subdued at what man will do to manGood tour guide who explained the whole setup well. Bomb holes, man traps, tunnels etc all well displayed. Gunshots were a bit hard on the ears - would be better if the waiting area was further away. Good meal at the end.Visited November 2023Travelled with familyWritten November 28, 2023
- emle_86London, United Kingdom7 contributionsReally interesting (review of visit without tour guide)We did a last minute visit to the Cu Chi Tunnels on Wednesday 6th December. We got a grab from our hotel in District 1 who took us straight there for about £20 (each way) and then it was really reasonably priced to enter the tunnels (125,000 each so just over £4 each). My daughter, who is 8 years old, absolutely loved it and there were a few younger children there. We didn’t have a tour guide with us but managed to get around the site ok. I think if we had been more organised we would have booked someone. Word of warning though, I would avoid it when it’s raining really hard as it’s all outdoors and also proceed with caution if you are very tall. My husband was on his bum, crawling along at one point as he is 6ft2 and the tunnels are pretty small. The 50m tunnel is a real workout for the thighs that’s for sure. I’m only 5ft6 so got around fairly easily but I still had to take a couple of breathers as it was hot down there. Nonetheless, it was a brilliant experience and we would highly recommend it. I have a lot of respect for the people who lived and fought there after our visit.Visited December 2023Travelled with familyWritten December 7, 2023
- Jade P. Lee7 contributionsTruly remarkable!Visiting this historical landmark would be a must on any vacation to Vietnam. Anyone who lost a loved one in the conflict may find this upsetting, but you have to admire the Vietcong's strategies—despite the fact that they were so brutal—because you can see why they were successful in winning the conflict. The only issue is that it might be annoying to have so many tour groups go through at once.Visited December 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten December 22, 2023
- adrenalinejunkie007Los Angeles, California57 contributionsExcellent insight into the Vietnam WarIt's amazing to learn about the tunnel system and how ingenuity came into play during the Vietnam War. The site offers different forms of defense and offense used during the war, as well as access to some of the hideouts and tunnels. When we visited I felt it was pretty crowded but can understand why. There's also a chance for you to rent firearms and use them at the shooting range if you're so inclined. Kind of surreal to hear all that while walking around the site.Visited November 2023Travelled with friendsWritten December 23, 2023

Ticketing and cost factor.
a. I booked through Klook and paid 834000 VND, for a half day trip to Cu Chi Tunnel. This is much cheaper than any of the local travel agents and I must say they had an excellent guide and a luxary bus.
b. It was a group tour with meet up option at 22 Bui Vien Street, which was hardly 150 mtr from my hotel in Bag packers Street.
Do's and Don't
a. The tour veh stops enroute at a handicraft factory which has lots of local Vietnamese craft work, specialty is the pottery work using egg shells. I recommend Not to buy it as they are exorbitantly high. you can easily pick up same stuff from Bin Tay market or from Ben Than Market at not even half the price.
b. Do not miss to enter the modified tunnel. They have developed it so that tourists can enter the tunnel and get real life feel of how the Vietnamese operated from the tunnel. It is slightly challenging as tall guy like me had to crawl all through, but something not to be missed.

We did the Cu Chi tunnels with a tour and tour guide which was very good because we got to learn the history and many interesting things. Cost VND 400-500k depending on what's included. The AK47 ammunition/ bullets are overpriced VND 600k for ten but it's a once in a lifetime. If I did it again, I would take the public bus from HCM City and do it on a much lower budget. Also, would be good to do the river boat up but not sure if cost.

My wife and I used Asiana Link Travels and opted for the morning tour in Feb 2020. We paid 1.1million dong (around £38) for the two of us. Our guide Tri (pronounced tree) was very helpful and spoke very good English. On the way we stopped at a factory where disabled people made lacquered gifts. The process was explained and the various items were most impressive.
We continued on to the tunnels and Tri explained how the Viet Cong survived in the network of tunnels and the ingenious ways they avoided the US and allied troops. There was an option to pay extra to fire live rounds at the firing range from different weapons. Next to the firing range was a good sized cafe. We were surprised that the cafe had been placed right next to the firing range as it was LOUD.
We were then given the chance to go down one of the tunnels at no extra charge. We had the option of doing 20, 40, 100 or 160 metres. After 20 metres my wife and I had had enough. I am not the slimmest person and I found it too hot down there. However, one of our group did the full 160! He took so long the guide was about to go and find him (in case he’d taken the wrong turn and was heading for Cambodia), but he came out saying he’d been taking selfies! After the visit there was the option to go to a restaurant for lunch (included in the price) or return to your hotel. I would recommend Asiana Link Travels as the guide was friendly and informative not only about the tunnels, but also life in modern day Saigon.

We visited Cu Chi tunnels on 25th Jan 2020 - cost 350k Dong per person. They picked us up with bus at our hotel. The tour guide Lam was very kind, professional and led the tour nicely. We were in the morning tour so it wasnt crowded. We could go through in a comfortable speed. We could go into the tunnel - could choose 10meters, 20meters, 60 or 100 meters. There were also bunkers with museum Stuff to see. You can also fire with Guns if you want - 60k Dong per bullet, 600k for 10. In the End we could also try tapioca that Vietkongs ate in the war. Lam also explained some tactics they used. Nice tour, I recommend to everybody who visits Vietnam.

What an eye opener. 2 ways to visit The tunnels. Speedboat 30 mins or road 1 hour and 20 mins. Both interesting journies.
We arrived by taxi from HCMC and a guide from the tunnels showed us round. He was informative , very very interesting and great at English. We expected a 'bill' but not the case . We generously tipped him. Tip. The guides you pre pay for are very expensive and we got same information for much less. Majority of tour is above ground with easy access. The main tunnel has been significantly enlarged for our 'stouter' western visitors. My partner went down to experience the tunnel. Again, lots of history , relics, footage and demonstrations . The original bunkers underground now have thatched rooves so you can see inside from ground level. There is a cafe area and a shooting range but we didn't opt to shoot the rifles. This was one of our favourites . Highly highly recommended. I'm currently using a crutch following surgery and this trip was perfectly fine. People we spoke to had declined to visit as they envisaged it being underground. This is not the case. Entry fee was around £6 per person. Well worth it.

This place is one of a kind and an essential visit when coming to Saigon/Ho Chi Minh City. We went with a tour guide as part of a small group of 7 (Vietnam Adventure Tours). You get to go into the original tunnels if you want to. They are 100 metres long with options to exit every 20 metres. I wouldn’t visit here as part of a large tour group as you’d barely get to see or hear the tour guide. There is an amazing, large restaurant as you exit the Cu Chi Tunnels tourist site. It is on the water and the food is good.

Tuan is a Vietnam war veteran that knows so much history about the tunnels. He works with Vietnam adventure tours that provide a very cheap price. If you want to visit the cu chi tunnels I highly recommend requesting Tuan as your guide. He is funny, respectful, and most of all very knowledgeable about the war and tunnels. I would definitely book this tour again in the future with other friends to show them some of the history of the Vietnam war!

We booked a half day tour, it was about £20 pp so good value for money, it is a long half day ! Our guide was very informative and spoke really good English, (Vietnam Adventure Tours). The tunnel area was laid out well, the guide doesn't rush you around and engages in conversation answering any questions. On the way back the guide picked up some snacks for us to try - fried savoury filled and sweet pancakes (more like dumplings), very nice and a nice touch. I would recommend this tour and the company.

Fascinating glimpse into the elaborate tunnel system used by the Viet Cong both before and during the Vietnam War. We visited the Ben Duoc area and had a fantastic tour guide. Our boys loved crawling through the tunnels. We took a couple public buses to the site. Entrance was $5 US per person (they measure kids by height to determine if they pay) and includes the tour guide.

Visiting the Cu Chi tunnels is a very popular daytrip from Ho Chi Minh city. We booked our trip through Tam Global Travel at our Hotel in Bui Vienstreet. We were picked up at our hotel and on the two hour trip to the tunnels (with a stop at a handicraft store), our guide Rio told a lot about the Vietnamese war. The tunnels were very inventive and very narrow. You can also see some simple but effective traps and you can shoot with real weapons.

My husband is built like an NFL player (6’3” and 275 lbs) and made it through, however he had to go on his hands and knees as the tunnel was not wide enough for his shoulders otherwise. It is definitely tight, even for me and I am 5’4” and 125 lbs.

How wide are the tunnels? Is there a size restriction for generously sized adults ?

hi, I have booked a trip with Vietnam adventure tours. I know the location to be picked up but when the guide is over, do they give me a ride back?

Yes I imagine they will drop you back. That is the normal convention

Is it necessary to book a tour? or can I just show up and purchase tickets? I have transportation available, so this would not be an issue, just want to understand if a tourguide is indispensable, and if it has to be booked in advance

Planning on visiting here from Hoi An. Any ideas on how to get here and what is the easiest way to?
Written June 3, 2020
You will need to go with an organized tour. I’d suggest making a booking. It’s well outside of downtown Saigon. It took us 3 hours to get to the tunnels from our hotel. We went with a private tour.

Hi, am planning for the half day cu chi tunnels trip with my wife and 2 year old child and have 2 queries
1. My wife is pregnant, is the trip suitable for pregnant woman ( she would definitely NOT prefer entering any tunnels and would just enjoy the rest of the tour)
2. Will we be allowed to participate in firing range as my sole purpose visiting the tunnels is to fire a mk60
Written December 17, 2019
The highlight of the tour is going/crawling to the tunnel. That said, your pregnant wife with not be able to experience that. As for the two-year-old, she/he may get bored especially with the long bus ride there plus the actual hike that is sometimes mosquito-ridden,
As for the firing range, there is Saigon Sniper if that is what you want to do!
