A Piece of French Indochina

The Vietnamese Communist government opposes religion, but it allowed this historical place to continue to exist.

If you've been to any other cathedrals, this one is pretty plain. It looks like a fine place for prayer, but isn't distinguished as a destination to visit. There is some beautiful stained glass work.

This part of Saigon is very charming with lots of colonial era buildings. Go inside for a quick look, but there is really not a lot of note in this building besides its historical significance.

We started our cyclo tour from the cathedral. Cathedral is beautiful and free to enter. Ideal location near the post office and opera hall.

A well-known landmark in Vietnam, a definite must see for those visiting Vietnam for the first time. Pros: Beautiful landmark in the heart of Ho Chi Minh city. Centrally located near other famous tourist sites including the Post Office and Ben Thanh Market. Cons: Too crowded in the middle of the day. Not much to see inside the building.

In central ho chi minh city, you will find a hindu temple, a mosque, a church and this beautiful french cathedral. Beautiful for taking pictures outside. It closes by 5 pm so do it earlier. It is right beside the central post office and minutes from the reunionification palace.

It's pretty from the outside, maybe because the red brick, located in a strategic place, really good to take picture, when I was there it was closed. Many street foods near by. Worth-seeing and I think this is one of the Ho Chi Min icon, so I recommend you to come for at least take picture outside this cathedral.

If you don't visit this cathedral, it means you don't visit Sai Gon. I just joke a bit. Actually, it's a good place for you to visit. Because this cathedral is a small coppy of notredam de paris, but in the brick version. You can see how beautiful and charming when the notre dam was built by brick. Especially, when... More
