Good place to visit with family

Enjoyed by my 9 year old son when we visited and can take up a whole hour of your day. Just a bit out of the way from the city center.

It shows you the artifacts from Vietnam (including two annexed old kingdoms s at the sounth, Champa and Funan)'s stone ages to modern eras. You may be surprised to find an ancient female mummy there too.

The museum of Vietnamese History was built in 1929. This Sino-French museum houses a great collection of artifacts illustrating the evolution of the cultures of Vietnam dating as far back as 2000 BC. The museum is quite small and has four distinct areas that can be visited in a clock wise fashion and you will finish with the center and... More

Unfortunately I didn't find this museum to be anything special. It closes between 11 and 2, quite common in these parts. The cost is vnd15k Some very ancient displays, relatively unprotected against wear and tear. The building all the artefacts are housed in was interesting. Many non- Vietnamese pieces too. The mummified body was a surprise.

The artifacts are well documented but need improvements to it . I felt it is more for their locals than visitors and I am a Vietnamese myself . To make it more intersting, they must add tour guides to bring visitors around .

We went to the History Museum as an additional thing to do in Ho Chi Minh City not expecting much. The museum is quite small and can be visited in less than one hour focusing on some of the items exhibited. It shows a bit of history at different ages, mainly through pottery and sculpture, but also with some ethnographic... More

This is an interesting and surprisingly informative museum. Lots of things were in both Vietnamese and English, which we appreciated very much. Cheap to get in, we recommend it!
