Having seen quite a few "Traditional Dance Shows", I was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed this show. The open air setting and very un-fancy theater unimpressed me from the start, as did the lack of preciseness in some of the choreography, but then it started to grow on me. The sense of preserving traditions that were almost completely... More

Was reading the brochures and it became one of my top thing to see. It did not disappoint. The customs are beautiful and and detail. It was broken down to small segment of cambodian culture and each told segmented performance had a story to it. And each performance had information display on a screen to give a little background. Only... More

I attended the Traditional Dance Show presented by Cambodia Living Arts at the National Museum in Phnom Penh tonight. The performance far exceeded my expectations. Everything about it was exceptional: the live music with traditional Cambodian singing and instruments; the open air theater; the dance choreography; the costumes; the diverse dances that were performed. My favorites were the Apsara and... More

Fantastic show, and introduction to Cambodian culture, music and dance. The dancers move beautifully in sparkling costumes to the music and portray traditional stories from the past. Was a pleasure to watch and a fantastic way to support a totally non-profit organization keep the arts alive! Thank you Cambodian Living Arts for a brilliant show!

A must-see, the traditional dance evening was the first thing I checked out upon arrival in Phnom Penh. These young, talented dancers are learning the folk and traditional arts that were nearly exterminated during the reign of the Khmer Rouge. Seriously too cool to be able to see this. The theatre is small and intimate and there are no bad... More

A touching, beautiful and vibrant show that makes temples sculptures and carvings come to life. After getting some insight into Cambodian history, it is very moving to see these young people learning back and making alive the culture of their country, and the elder in the background playing and singing traditional songs. It's additionally very beautiful and unlike anything I... More

With 8 local dances, the traditional dance show gave a good insight onto the Cambodian dance culture within an hour. The costumes were also very nice. Good program for everyone, before drinking some beers at the river side .

We went to this performance which was varied and very colourful. There was information on the dances projected on the screen behind and quite a large number of singers and musicians. We bought the mid range seats which provided us with a cushion but the cheaper hard seats would have been fine as there were not many people there. Several... More

Wonderful and heartfelt. After seeing so many images on temple walls, it was interesting to see the traditions come to life. The folk dances celebrated planting, harvesting, fishing and in a larger sense, fertility, both human and that of the land that sustains life. Happy to know that the recovery of tradition is important after the catastrophe.
