There is food if you want to eat like a local, but as we had just eaten, not much else was of interest. Mostly clothes, but nothing special, no souvenirs, either. If you want a cheap T-shirt, I guess this is the place, but I wouldn't make extra effort to go see it.Visited November 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten December 9, 2023
- Tracey M5 contributionsGood marketWe went early to avoid the crowds. Not a big market but had plenty to buy depending on what you are looking for. It was a peaceful stroll around the market, no heckling, which we enjoyed. Although a couple of stalls went a little too far at ignoring us even when we wanted to make a purchase. But it was only a couple of stalls. Knock off clothing, shoes, local clothing, food and some souvenirs. All better value than the Russian Market.Visited July 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten July 7, 2024
- DeepakSuva, Fiji347 contributionsNothing Out of the OrdinaryI guess the plus side was the free live entertainment that was on stage. Most of the stalls have clothes and souvenirs. Good way to spend the evening if you have nothing else to do whilst in Phnom Penh. You can also go for the $5 Meekomg River cruise from across the road from here.Visited July 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten August 19, 2024

Compared to the Central Market and Russian Market, I actually preferred the Night Market for a couple of reasons. Being outdoors makes it a little less claustrophobic in my opinion, although the stalls on the outskirts are still quite close. Also there are quite a few street food stands towards the back that have some very cheap but good meals available. I got egg fried rice for 2 dollars, as well as a coconut and strawberry soft serve for the same price. There's supposed to be live music but apparently that has been put on hold because of covid. Would definitely be great to see that return. Most of the stalls sell the same cheap knock-off clothing items and apparel that is a dime a dozen in these other markets in the city. Would love to see some locally made goods available.

The clothing stall section was small and there was someone singing on a stage. We enjoyed the food section where we chose skewers to be cooked and bought some sugar cane juice. All of the food was delivered to us as we sat on the mats on the ground. We paid after we ate.

There are a few food vendors here where the locals come for food then sit on large mats that are provided. Condiments containers are dotterel over the mats allowing you to spread out. There is a stage and when we were there a female singer was up singing. Not sure who she was entertaining as no one was stood watching here. The stalls are all tourist tat or designer bags / clothing but I think designed in a sweat shop somewhere. There are lots of tuk tuks outside if needed. We walked the market in 10 minutes.

Not that amazing. Was expecting a lot more. Unless you want sandals, shirts and fake clothes. The back of the market was the best place. You can eat street food for about $1-3 usd and sit on mats and people watch.

I visited here a couple of times during my visit to the city. It's situated down by the river. First, there are rows of stalls outside selling food, gifts, watches, clothing etc. The clothing is marked "Versace" and "Calvin Klein" but you know it's all fake. However, there are bargains to be had, just remember to haggle for them and don't pay the price as advertised. You will be respected more if you are prepared to negotiate for a bargain.
There is live music on every night and at the back is the food area, selling loads of freshly cooked street food in all forms. There are tables around or you could just sit one a rug on the floor and eat and be sociable. I had a meal here with a bottle of water which came to less that $4. I also has a large ice cream afterwards which cost $1. Everyone is very friendly and respectful and what more can a tourist really ask for than being part of a community atmosphere and eating and drinking with the locals for such a low price on a warm spring evening.

Great locals market. Full of people who've come to meet friends, eat (very cheap) street food and browse the shops. Local performers singing to a appreciative crowd. Great place to hang out.

Visit to night market not all that thrilling. Stall after stall of the same thing. Fake copies of designer clothes, jewellery and watches. Watch out for pick pockets who work in groups to case you specially if you are a foreigner. Try to keep things to a minimum i.e. back packs and handbags. Travel without these as too much to keep a tab on. Keep things in sight and only carry what you need. Cheap eats, but be aware if you dine there must take off shoes to sit on the mats in the quad. Entertainment on stage live singers.

Phnom Penh's Night Market
Phnom Penh
Beware of massage parlour scams near riverside night market in Phnom Penh. Posting pics of the scamsters
Very bad experience to the left of market in a massage parlour next to an Indian restaurant opposite to the riverside ticket booth. I went for a foot massage, i kept my trousers in a rack because of the oil foot massage. After finishing massage, I paid them and came out. Today morning I went to S21 Museum and took out a usd bill. It was fake. I had 200 usd in my wallet. Both bills turned out to be fake. I did not bother to complain because I felt no purpose would be served. I am trying to enlighten people to be aware of such massage scams. I googled and found out much worse duped people in these massage parlours.

Visited the place few nights ago, it has around 10 halls of clothes, five each side. Most of them have the same items so it's boring. Live music. Food in the back is mostly everybody selling meat... The best thing about the market was the coconut ice cream from the couple on the left side!

Good place to shop if your are interested in replicas, I didn’t buy anything so won’t be able to comment on price. The quality look decent as compared to central market. Food stalls and people sitting together as a community is a nice gesture and experience. OK for 1 time visit if you are in Phnom Penh.

Is the night market opened during the week? The times online say just weekends, can anyone confirm this?
Written March 15, 2017
I think it's every night however if you have been to other night markets you may be disappointed in this one.

What time does central market and the russian market close please?

I collect tiny cats made from various materials from every country I visit. I will be in Phnom Penh in a couple of weeks and am wondering where I can get my Cambodian cat to add to my collection.

The central market has just about everything but can be a bit overwhelming. The night market is smaller and carries mainly clothing but it does have several booths that sell local statues and sculptures. The only other place that I would try is the art district near the national museum. The Tuk-Tuk drivers know how to get to all of those places. Good luck.
