Te Mekong River is very important and one of the most important in Asia. It is a great place to take a sunset cruise out of Phnom Penh. The river is generally a little dirty and you cannot see the bottom.

While cruising down the river you can see the fishing boats, fishermen placing and pulling in nets, water buffalo, ferrys taking cattle, trucks and people across. The house boats are unique along with the houses along the river.

I have seen the Mekong river in various SE Asian countries and it looks pretty much the same brown & uninviting but always see locals swimming in it

Went on a cruise and had dinner in the boat. Beautiful view of the city. The sunset was spectacular. Worth it!

Staying at a riverside hotel I spent many minutes morning and evening watching the dawn rise and the sun set over the river. Very picturesque.

This is a massive river that runs right up to Vietnam and the view is amazing. Take a boat ride in the evening and enjoy the quaint experience

I only went on a short sunset cruise, but it was still fascinating, particularly how you get to see how the other half live. It's quite a large river mind you, and it is actually the confluence of five rivers.

We love the river here, watching the little local boats, the pleasure crafts and the barges. There is a lovely walkway along a good stretch of the river and it is a good easy place to walk in Phnom Penn where the sidewalks are so...More

We did a sunset cruise in the end of the afternoon/evening. Highlight of our stay in Phnom Peng, very relaxing, good athmosphere with nice traditional music, and the sky was on fire this day!

I don't know - ask the agency you booked with. It was overcast when we were three, so we didn't do the sunset cruise
