Upon entering you are given plastic bags to put over your shoes. If your shoe size is larger than size 7, it will take at least 3 bags that don't rip to accomplish this task. This museum was interesting to see the amount of gifts...More

A must see in sight-skimpy Astana, if only to enjoy lots of "chachkees." The prez did build a nice state and new capital, but obviously he is concerned about his legacy, so Naz made sure to put all his knick-knacks in pricey (unnecessary) break proof...More

After visiting the Museum of Saken Seifullin, we walked 750 meters southwest to this large government building. At the building's north rear side, we passed through a security booth before walking to the vestibule at the center. Here we were pointed to the cloakroom for...More

Inside this attractive building the are several displays. Historical objects, information about the history of Kazakhstan, collection of jewellery, etc. This museum is on the old Astana and so quite far away from the new Astana where all visitors go.

Although it is not the museum to visit in Astana/Kazakhstan, I think it would be a very interesting museum to visit if you have the time and you are within the area. The museum was the first office of the President when the capital shifted...More

I believe this museum is compulsory for every Kazakh at various stages of their life. It feels a bit weird that a living (and ruling) president would open a 4 floor museum dedicated entirely to himself (one floor is for the gifts he received from...More

A lot of gold jewellery and even a reputed Golden Man from 4th century. Only local archeologists have examined the golden man and a bejeweled horse. Lots of local and regional handcrafts.

This is the first office o the President when the capital was moved to Astana in 1997. The President moved out again in 2004, but many of the rooms are kept in original condition. There are also some very interesting exhibitions about the President and...More

So curious to find a museum dedicated to the legacy of a president who's still alive but there's a lot of Nazarbayev in Astana so it's not that unusual. Free entrance and a few interesting knick-knacks to look at including many gifts he was given...More

A previous office of the president, and a collection of gifts which he has received from around the world. Good place to spend some extra time: air condition is working and there was no entrance fee.
