The biggest and most beautiful Orthodox church in Central Asia. You can visit this place as a tourist, just be sure to respect all the traditions and not take photo of praying people.

We went at 9am as this is when the morning service is held - we wanted to see an orthodox service in action. It was a weekday, so there were only a few worshippers. We stayed for most of the service, observing from the rear...More

There are so many churches that once you have seen one, you feel you have seen all others. This one is fairly new. It shows a relic of the apostle st Andrew offered by pope Jean Paul II years ago.

The outside is very beautiful as most of the orthodox churches but the inside is even more exciting with paintings on the walls from bottom to ceiling. Fantastic place to visit.

I arrived around 10:30am just as Sunday service was ending. The choir was so good I thought it must be a recording but they are real. Must see (hear) for a visit to Astana. The cathedral is best photographed in the morning.
