It takes quite a drive to get there, and unless you have your own transport you will have to hire a driver. The trip is gorgeous and the lake is beautiful. I would recommend coming for one of the horse games they have during the...More

Between Son Kul and Issyk Kul lake, Son Kul is more scenic because it is surrounded by snow capped mountains. The shoreline is dotted by many many yurts. It was a good end to our journey - 8 days on horseback from Shamsy. On the...More

Not an easy place to get too. Best is with a guide in private car or bus. Accommodation in yurt camps, some of dubious quality. However the place is stunning. We visiting petroglyphs , ancient stone circles and were entertained with an evening of horseback...More

Once you manage to pass over the 3500 meter pass, you'll get to the shores of Song-Kel Lake. A truly amazing place where in May, there was only 2 yurts settled up close to it's shores, as snow still covered the surrounding mountains and made...More

You are simply in another world. It is very cold. You feel the difference - it is something else. You spend the night with the locals in their Yurta - super experience.
