There's not much really to see other than this structure which looks like concrete and cement rendering has been used to repair it. It's worth visiting and then moving on to the next thing. Yes it has parks but this is more for adults or those interested in history. Young kids would find it boring....The parks are more like greenery,... More

Vientiane only has a few landmarks and this is one of them. It is kind of cool to see and you have to climb to the top for a view of the city. It is not well maintained but kind of fun in an odd way. You don't need more than 30 minutes here.

Now and again you come across a gem! Inside the arch there is a tourist information plaque which reads "From a closer distance it appears even less impressive like a monster of concrete." Now, I don't know if this is a literal translation of the Laos, but it gave me a chuckle!! Nice view from the the top.

Good as part of a tour but probably not a stand alone visit You can walk up stairs inside the building to the roof and take pictures, got to be fairly fit !

A really cool and well designed structure. Really nice view all the way around. Random stalls on the upper levels.

This monument stands fairy close to the Presidential palace. Worth a visit and worth climbing to the top. It does have souvenir shops on the floors during your climb.

The Patuxai has become a place whereby the locals gather together for some relaxing time. However, its also a great place for tourists to relax and enjoy the atmosphere.

This place is a bit run-down, with all the ambience of some railway arches in a yet-to-be-regenerated UK town. The view from the top is OK, but there's nothing spectacular to see (which is more of a comment on Vientiane). Climbed up, got my breath back, snapped a few photos, ticked a box and moved on.
