You can walk up and down the main avenue and get to see this for free without anybody trying to sale you a tuk tuk trip to the arch. A great view of the city, it adds to the charm of Vientiane.

This is one of the most popular attraction in this city. Really cool to visit in early morning. Located on the roundabout, there is also a fountain, palm trees and benches so it's also a really cool place to have a break. You can climb to the 7th floor to enjoy a 360degres view on the city, actually I would... More

An icon rich in history. Beautiful on the outside, yet looking forlorn. Inside was so disapointing. Unkempt, unappealing, Suggest relocating the stalls and paint murals depicting the history of Laos. The wear and tear is so evident of this " grand lady " Restore it to its glorious days and for the pride of the Laotians.

A big and interesting arch with nice Lao design. It was inspired by Arc de Triumph in Paris. For a small admission of 3000 LAK (0,4 USD) you can go upstairs to the rooftop, and have a really good view on the city. No elevator for disabled. About 30 min is enough for this site.

From a distance this structure looks impressive but on closer inspection its not so nice. It looks a lot like the Arc of Triumph in Paris, although the architecture is thoroughly Lao. It's an easy climb up to the top for 360 views of Vientiane.

A must see landmark of the city. Worth climbing the stairs to get a good birds's eye view of the city. Small shops selling trinkets and drinks inside. Nice park outside, although not much shade. Kids like to watch the water fountain. Popular with locals as a walking place.

...it's definitely worth a visit. If you like to go for running in the early morning go up the Avenue Lane Xang to Patuxay have a rest in the smalll park around the monument and look maybe for a snack at one of the mobile food stalls. Opposite to Thai cities Vientiane is safe and there are nearly no street... More

Another concrete monument. No historical value and a fairly mediocre view. If this was in Barcelona or Berlin no one would ever visit.
