Iconic stupa

This is a national symbol of Laos, and doesn't take long to see, but is beautiful and culturally important.

OK--this is the national symbol of Laos so you have to come here. You don't need to stay long but it is a pretty cool looking STupa. Huge--gold--interesting temple buildings surrounding the Stupa. So don't miss it!!

This area is quite good although u must say the main golden building and surrounds is still being worked on. Still there is a bit to look at around the same area so well worth a visit.

Peaceful, sunny and tidy place. A little far from downtown but worth a visit. A tuktuk costed us 50k for 3 people. That is standart price in Vientiane.

It's worth to visit if you have the extra time as secondary site and it's kind of a quick stop to visit. I will enjoy much better if you can get the right timing, it could be crowded in some occasion specially to get the right picture. For me the lack of information bother me a little. I just wish... I guess this is a side activity you do when visiting That Luang. You don't need a lot of time but its nice to meander in and out watching the monks go about their day(be respectful and don't take their pictures without permission.

Better from a distance. We went in and got a photo and were done here. The covered walkways around the inner perimeter were closed and roped off

Having seen photos before I arrived I was looking forward to seeing this Stupa. It has recently been painted but the surrounding covered walkway roof was being re tiled. Lots of green netting around it along with building works going on killed the moment. On the bright side it is unique but not as big as I thought it was... More

Okay to see, nothing too special as it was under a lot of reconstruction. There is Big gold painted structure which compared to a Thailand is very tacky indeed.

That Luang temple is one of destination you have to visit in Vientiane, very beautiful. The gold- covered stupa looks great sacred and shine particular when reflect by sunshine. As a Buddhist, I'm so delighted to visit this place.
