About 4km out of town, this is an impressive large, gold stupa surrounded by cloisters. Unfortunately these are being renovated and there is no access inside the buildings. Around the stupa there are a number of other Wats and the whole area is worth a...More

The area is very big. Good for taking photos. It is about 3km from Phatuxai. The entrance fee is kip 10.000. The Phra Tatlaung is under renovation. You can also find the big sleeping Budha beside Phra Tatluang. It is also nice.

The most important national landmark and monument in all of Laos. It is a center of pride and pilgrimage for the nation. This is a very large, gold covered, stupa. One can consider a stupa as a storage monument. Often used as a place to...More

A little difficult to get to on foot or bike but interesting once there! Lots of locals selling all sorts of things in the parking lot outside. We just biked around tired from the trek and earlier events.

Very nice chill area to visit, between the temples and the golden stupa. It' indeed the most important national monument in Laos and the nation symbol. Be aware that the stupa has been under renovation for quite some years, so not much it's visible inside.

We spent a while here enjoying the peaceful atmosphere and sitting in some of the temples, exploring the gardens and enjoying the beautiful stupa and reclining Buddha!

Vientiane's largest and most important Stupa and Buddhist Temple Complex, originally built in the 3rd century although rebuilt on many occasions (indeed it was pretty much destroyed during a Thai invasion in 1828). It is both Laos' most important national monument and also its national...More
