Iconic Lao Temple

This Stupa is an iconic part of Lao culture. It doesn't take that long to see, but is impressive and beautiful.

The temples in Laos begin to look the same after some time but Si Saket is pretty outstanding and the history is fascinating. I think this is one of the "must see" sites in Vientiane.

This is one place you must visit if you have no time to see all the temples in Vientiane as it is the oldest and most famous to be seen.

This is the only temple still in original state in Vientiane. It was erected in 1824 and survived the conquest by Siam. It houses an impressing collection of antique Buddhas, around 10.000

This is such a beautiful wat. We visited twice during our stay in Vientiane, as we forgot our camera first time - doh! - and it's so picturesque we just had to return. First time we went mid-afternoon and it was fairly quiet. We wandered around with very few other visitors and enjoyed looking at all the hundreds of different... More
