- Graham GBourne End, United Kingdom32 contributionsA must for Buddha fansJust finished visiting the amazing Buddha Park. If you like Buddhas then this is the place for you. Entrance was 40,000KIP and the audio guide was 20,000 more. It took me about 1.5 hours to go round and I’m fast. It was starting to get busy around 10.30am so go early to beat the crowds. Bus stops and picks up right outside it. Many places to eat, drink and do the toilet. We worth a visit when in Vientiane.Visited December 2023Travelled soloWritten December 6, 2023
- Ana-Maria BCluj-Napoca, Romania1,393 contributionsUnlike anything else I've seenI did not expect this to be as fascinating as it was. Sure, the artwork may not impress all art critics, but it is definitely striking through size, variety, and the stories behind it. Get very sturdy shoes and a small backpack if you want to explore the interior of the large oval building inside. The stairs are narrow and tall, quite hard to navigate and squeeze it. But definitely worth it and at times a bit unsettling. Be careful as it's quite easy to topple a statue or break it. And do get the audioguide, it give the story of each statue and it's all very interesting, especially if you come from a different cultural context.Visited November 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten December 17, 2023
- marshaanddavidSingapore, Singapore31 contributionsUhhh, UnusualI suspect this is one of those places which you will either love or be unsure about. My son loved it for the photographs, my wife was less than impressed and I was unsure. There is not that much to see in Vientiane, so it is difficult not to visit Buddha Park. We took a local bus there, easy enough from the Central Bus Station, very near Talat Sao Morning Market, and it was airconditioned, as the park is some way out of town and a tour/taxi to wait for us would have been expensive. We did not fancy a tuk tuk over a long distance. There is an entrance fee. The park consists mainly of an unusual, eclectic collection of concrete statues related to Buddha, there are many photographs of the park on the internet and it is certainly different. There is a restaurant there for a straightforward, pleasant and cheap meal. It is easy to catch the return bus opposite the main entrance to the park.Visited December 2023Travelled with familyWritten December 25, 2023
- Globe TrotterFrankfurt, Germany314 contributionsOk if you have nothing else left to do in VientianeLots of cement statues and a nice flower garden. The bus fare is less than 1€ with Bus 14 from the Central Bus Station. Commutes every 30min and the trip takes a little over 50min. If I would have paid over 20€ for a taxi ride I would have been quite disappointed.Visited January 2024Travelled soloWritten January 15, 2024
- Prathima ABengaluru, India689 contributionsWorth a One time visitWas an amazing experience. There were a whole lot if Buddha statues and an hour long walk to cover them all.. I do t think they were historical statues. But gave a good overview of the different stories and significance of the same.Visited December 2023Travelled with friendsWritten January 16, 2024
- tenthlistenSan Francisco, California313 contributionsLots of Buddhas in a Walkable SpaceWe had a good visit at Buddha Park. It was a bit smaller than expected, but there are many buddhas and it's easy to walk around. It would have been nice if some information (if available) had been provided on the individual buddhas. It was an interesting area to explore and I would recommend visiting when in Vientiane. It is a bit out of town, but it's also quite unique and worth a stop.Visited January 2024Travelled with friendsWritten February 1, 2024
- DotsGirl2Vancouver, Canada461 contributionsLots of BuddhasThis park has over 200 Buddha statues. The most fun was going in the mouth of one of the structures and going to three levels, hell, earth and heaven. The view from the top is great. We got an audio guide which explained what the story was for most statues. That made a big difference. Otherwise unless you knew the Hindu and Buddhist stories you would just walk through fairly quicklyVisited February 2024Travelled with friendsWritten February 16, 2024
- disappointeddiamondStockholm, Sweden2 contributionsSomething extraordinaryIn all Buddhist countries it is not difficult to see statues of Buddha reflecting different things. This park is a result of one person collecting statues and building a park. A rich collection of statues and flowers, no temple. Beautiful!Visited February 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten February 20, 2024
- golfpanamaPlaya Coronado, Panama51 contributionsInexpensive and simple to get to the buddha parkYou have to take Bus No 14 from the CENTRAL BUS TERMINAL. It is 18 000 kip in March 24. It takes 1 hour with a lot of stops and waiting time in the friendship bridge station. This is also the border of Laos with Thailand over Mekong River. The ride is ok no problems. Mostly locals in the bus. It has 3 official stops ( Terminal Vientiane- Border - Buddha Park)Visited March 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten March 16, 2024

One-way ticket costs 18,000 Laotian Kip as of 17 March 2024. journey is about 1 hour each way. It is a pretty big park full of statues. Strongly recommend renting the audio guide at the entrance if you are not on a guided tour, it only costs 20,000 Kip and is packed full of information on the statues. Don't miss out on stupa of the "3 realms". Be warned though, it is small and narrow to manuveur in and out - not for the claustrophobic or the unfit.Visited March 2024Travelled soloWritten March 26, 2024

Don’t need fancy tour or Tuk-Tuk. Just take 14 bus ( with Buddha Park) sign in the window for 8,000 Kips ( about $1USD)
Each way from the bus station running every 10 to 15 minutes. Pay the conductor on the bus, he’ll make change and you’ll get a receipt. It’s about an hour out there and an hour, fifteen minutes in air conditioned bus back. The bus driver stopped right at the park and we crossed the street and flagged down down a bus for return trip. Admission was 15,000 Kip and audio tour was another 15,000 Kip and well worth it once you figure out the less than perfect guide. The place is Buddha intense but also with many Hindu statues. There’s cold drinks available but a friend said worst food he ever had in SE Asia so we didn’t even try. Restrooms are near end of walk but can be accessed any time.

Loved this little park. Took local green bus 14 , a few minutes drive past the Friendship Bridge Laos/Thailand. You can’t miss it, it is the last stop on the route! Most people only spent 1-2 hours, I however stayed almost a whole day. Lingering among the sunflower field, views on the Mekong River, 100s of beautiful Hindu and Buddhist statues, exploring the three levels of the Pumpkin, climbing to the top to view the park, lovely benches throughout the park to sit and admire. When the sun was getting really hot, I took a break in one of the ‘huts’. Shaded, with a carpet and a table (you can have food ordered), perfect for a few hours relaxing with a book and crossword puzzles. I took the bus back around 4;30 pm (the wait at the bridge was about 15 minutes), the whole drive is about one hour and you get to see some of the countryside. Well worth the trip to enjoy some fresh air and outdoor ‘temple’ time. Recommended for young and old. Very accessible (not the pumpkin), with cement paths all through the park.

Please note that the entrance fee for foreigners has been raised to 40,000 kip. Also the price of the bus tickets on line 14 has been raised, it was 12,000 kip each way.
The park itself was nice. If you have an extra half day to spend in Vientiane, the park is not a bad choice. However as the statues are made of concrete, they are not super impressive, so I wouldn't consider the park a must-see.
The park isn't very big. It has a giant concrete pumpkin in addition to the Buddha statues. You can go inside the pumpkin and climb on top of it (the stairs are steep though). It took a bit less than an hour to stroll through the park, including climbing to the top of the pumpkin.
The area included some kind of a garden behind the actual Buddha park. There was also a decently priced restaurant by the river.
The city buses in Vientiane ran a limited network and even the lines that were operating had a reduced schedule. Luckily the bus 14 had already returned to a decent schedule, with departures roughly every 30 minutes during the opening times of the Buddha Park. The Vientiane City 2 Bus Service page on Facebook had up-to-date timetables. The bus departed punctually from the Central Bus Station, but on the way back it left back to the city right after getting to the last stop (the bus continued a bit further ahead from the park entrance). Then it stopped for half an hour at the Friendship Bridge stop, so the ride back took an hour and ten minutes.

This is a 40 minute each way bus ride from central bus station (bus number 14) and as of today the price is 8,000kip per person one way. It stops outside the gates and picks up opposite on a regular basis.
It is a lovely park full of Buddhas and Hindu gods. There are an awful lot and they come in all shapes and sizes. There is also a strange and large “pumpkin” concrete site, which if you are fairly thin and agile you can climb up steps inside and stand on the top to survey the park.
There are free public toilets and plenty of cafes and other food and drink stands inside the park - park entry cost 15,000kip each (for foreigners!) today.
It’s not exactly spectacular (no gold in sight!) but it’s a nice leisurely walk. We took about an hour or so.

Fun tourist site offering lots of Buddha sculptures and lovely gardens leading to river. Restaurants with nice views or grab a refreshing freshly made juice drink 30,000 kip or $2 USD. Climbing inside the "pumpkin" would never be allowed in the USA and not for "old people" (as the sign says!) but a great adventure. Frankly, when you see how the other sculptures are deteriorating, I won't spend too much time on the pumpkin roof! Plan about 1 hour for the outing. Admission now 40,000 kip per person or about $5 for two.
Easiest way from downtown Vientiane is hire an airconditioned taxi for $30 USD - only 35 minutes travel time and taxi waits x 1 hour while you visit, so it includes the return. Bargain- our driver started at $45! We arrived at 9:15am; still cool and hardly any people but buses of Koreans started arriving by 10am. Small gift shop, drinks and ok bathrooms.
Have fun!

It might take only half an hour to walk through the whole park. But if you pay close attention and read the signs that explain all flora and buddha statues it might take slightly more than an hour. Totally Instagram pic friendly. All pictures come out beautiful. Highly recommended

Worth a visit if you are in Vientiane. Don't bother with a tuk tuk though, they will charge you around $16 to $20 for 2 people for a round trip. Instead take bus number 14 from the central bus station. Honestly it's easy to find, if we can do it so can you! This cost 8,000 Kip each, each way so basically £3 for a round trip!

We are a family of 4 with a four and seven year olds. We had a great time exploring the grounds and looking at the old looking statues. I was happy we had made the trip out to see it. We hired a car to take us out there. It was about a 40 min drive from the city on the highway so a tuk tuk wouldn't have been a good option. There is a small restaurant there and also some food stalls by the front entrance. They also have a LOVELY gardens in the back. Looks like they are planning more flower beds. It will be beautiful when complete.

Best way to get here is the Number 14 bus from CBS Station in Vientiane which I think costs 14,000 per person. The bus can take up to an hour to get there (hopefully less). Entry fee at the gate is 40,000 and there are some pretty cool statues to take photos of. The best two being the reclining Buddha (which is huge) and also the heaven/hell statue at the very beginning. Would recommend fitting this into your Vientiane itinerary if you can.

Hi Ivan,
Where did you rent the scooter? Im looking at doing that as seems AWASOME!
You also say there are not may touristic spots there, do you think 1 day would be enough?

J

Since u r in Vientiane another extra day will be more relaxing. Going around Vientiane in a motorcycle is more convenient but for me renting a bicycle is good enough for me. Going to Buddha Park by bus is just as easy. Take it from the market!

I am quite sure it is open on Saturday. In Asia in general many museums and attractions are closed on Monday.
If you are living inside Vientiane, the easiest way is to hire a car with driver to take you there. The roundtrip in the park takes not more than two hours so you can negortiate a total price including waiting.
