The Largest Park in Sri Lanka

This is the largest park in Sri Lanka. So need more time to spend inside to spot animals. I have been there over 10 times & still not seen a leopard. You need to spend whole day... read more

WPN is really a waste of money..the entrance fee is 10x higher for foreigners compared to locals...and u can see only few common animals...very boring safari as the roads also repeated...dissapointed

Wilpattu is a beautiful National Park in Sri Lanka. With a good driver and a four-wheel vehicle plus an excellent guide we saw a leopard, sloth bear, water buffaloes and elephants plus a numerous birds both endemic and migratory. Our guide had the uncanny ability to spot birds or animals from a great distance.

This park is much more natural and beautiful than Yala NP, while still offering a good chance of seeing leopards. It feels less like a zoo there and you can really lose yourself in the nature. Lots of birds, leopards, sloth bears and, if you're lucky, elephants, this park encompasses all Sri Lanka has to offer in terms of wildlife.... More

Sorry to be negative but surely the idea of a safari park conjures up images of lions, elephants, crocodiles and so forth. Well, apparently Wilpattu has leopards but they were well hidden on the day we visited. Oh well, its Sri Lanka so we are bound to see herds of elephants to make up for it, right? Nope. Not even... A fun filled 12 hours inside the wildness and was thrilled to see the leopard, bear, fox, crocs, elephants, dear, alligators, mongoose, tortoise, wild boar, rabbits and Manu species of birds add colour to the day. Acknowledge the tracker Samantha who did all in a days work with sharp eyes

We went there by ourselves , we were 3 friends, and arrive and the entrance at 6:00 in the morning (For sure they will stop stop before the entrance of the park, telling you that you can't go without a car/guide/tour and asking ridiculous amount of money don't listen and keep going) we were trying to join another tour, so... My guide was very nice, and he gave me the feeling that I could trust him. In collaboration with the state employee at the reception, they make me pay twice the foreigner price. After paying, the state employee doesn't want to give me my ticket but only to my guide. I felt the tricky thing. i took the paper from... More

As Wilpattu National Park is situated nearby to my work place at north west province of Sri Lanka, taken the opportunity to visit the same during free time in first week of Feb 17. The national park established in 1938 and is located 30 km west of Anuradhpura, the nearest city and located 26 km north of Puttalam. About 60... More
