Apparently built because the previous one was obscured by earlier building development on the waterfront. Not much access by lighthouse standards and for reasons not obvious, but we think related to nearby land reclamation development, photography not allowed and enforced by an armed soldier on...More

I organised a party for My teenage daughter at this location. It's value for money and the staff were very friendly even though they are from a military background. They private buffet was really good and many enjoyed their egg hoppers cooked in front of...More

The lighthouse is something to view from a distance rather than get up close as there are many more impressive sights in Colombo. It is located on a sea facing road near the old Parliament and Dutch Hospital past Galle Face.

We had a quick stop to view the lighthouse during our return from the Mount Lavania beach trip at the evening. It’s very near to the Galle Face Green, which is a very popular attraction for the tourists as well as the locals and crowded...More

Beyond the lighthouse you can see the port that the Chinese are building and funding. We also stopped at Buddhist temples, Pettah Street, Independence Square and the floating market for just under $20 which included a King Coconut drink and a full Sri Lankan lunch.

A quick stop within a tour is enough time to view the lighthouse. Once the new island is built in front its location will look a little odd !!

Lovely light house that will mark the old waters edge in a few years as there is a whole city being built in the sea in front of the light house! Interesting to see this and the development going up around it

The entire fort and its confines are worth a day visit. Several good restaurants, nice views, a good walk around the fort, all very pleasant.

The building is in a quiet good state, not so far from the Galle Green Face and the Chatiya pagodo on the other hand. In front is nowadays an extension of the colombo harbour.
