Lovely n well maintained place. Not a big place to visit but worth a visit. The entrance fee for a foreigner is exhorbitent. You may stay preper to take a look from outside. You can challenge photography capability ... Worth to visit as family.

As museums go in developing countries this is a great one! Lots of exhibits with English explanations. Some lovely dioramas on the upper floor. Cool and roomy. And a great shop and cafe outside with decent toilets. The gifts in the shop were very reasonably...More

The collection includes murals from Sigiriya, traditional masks, a coin collection, and Buddhist artifacts. Surprisingly the museum is not climate controlled. Check with your hotel when they are open, the hours posted are well shall we say aspirational. Worth an hour or two to visit.

We were just outside of the museum. Looks nice, didn't had enough time to visit it unfortunately. The security was good. If it rains maybe come here?

There's a big improvement after the renovation. This building is magnificent and deserves the money spent to maintain and restore it to its lost grandeur! Well worth a visit.

The entrance fee in the museum is 600 srilanka rupees for the foreigners. For srilankans it's very cheap I think 100 only. The rate for camera is 250 separate.
