We went to the national and the natural history museums. I was quite surprised to the fact that we had to pay 10 times as much as locals. Even tough it was not very expensive I think the difference should be less. The natural history...More

Well worth visiting. This impressive museum was established 130 years ago and contains a comprehensive collection of artifacts that tells the story of Sri Lanka from prehistoric times until the conquest by the British. Lots of well-written information boards provide plenty of explanation.

Although it is one of the biggest in the country, the National Museum is not well maintained, but gives you an all-round idea of the country's cultural heritage.

We believe it has range of things kept inside but found most of the areas are blocked for tourists to see and what left doesn't give a whole good impression on the history. The management seems avoiding the general care and maintenance, as there were...More

The entrance fee in the museum is 600 srilanka rupees for the foreigners. For srilankans it's very cheap I think 100 only. The rate for camera is 250 separate.
