Really interesting Buddhist temple. There is a lot of things in the museum section. Some of the content in the museum seemed a little bit confusing but interesting all the same. Worth a visit.

Entry is 200 r each and allows you to walk respectfully around barefoot to observe the temple and attached museum/collection of religious articles which are very interesting.

We were taken here by a friendly tuk tuk driver. Part of the temple is on the lake and is being extended. Beware random locals asking for a selfie with you; we were told this is a means of showing it to other tourists to "prove" they are reliable as tour guides as they have lots of "friends" from around... very peaceful temple in the middle of the busy city. When ever I have time just drop in and worship and can do meditation as well.

It was interesting to see a temple that is very much in use while accepting visitors, as opposed to museum-like temples elsewhere. Buddhas are presented in various styles and some are quite impressive.

Having overdosed on temples in Thailand earlier this year I am now more particular on temples and churches I visit. This one was well worth the visit as it combined traditional Buddhist temple with a most amazing collection of what I presume were gifts that the temples has received. Well worth a visit.

Finding a parking spot for this temple is a little challenging as it is located on a very busy road in the heart of Colombo. There is an entrance fee for tourists of about Rupees 200 and as usual every person has to remove their shoes at the entrance and walk around in bare feet. There is also a strict... More

I've lived for 2,5 years in Colombo and only last week I decided to spend sometime at this temple. The place is awesome for both religious and touristic purposes. It is located in a narrow road, so parking would be a problem. I recommend to reach there by tuktuk or by foot. The images, status, architecture, everything is picturesque. It... More

I would say this is a must see in Colombo. Beautiful setting, tree from graft of the tree under which the Buddha attained Enlightenment is there.

This Buddhist temple is unlike any other temple we have visited in South East Asia. It's packed with statues, collections of watches, old cars, and people praying. The atmosphere is unique!
