Overview
More
Mount Lavinia Beach is located just out of the Colombo city. This beach strip has a lot to offer for the locals as well as the tourists visiting Colombo. Along the beach there are many nice restaurants pubs as well as relaxing areas. As a tourist who is visiting Colombo, Mount Lavinia Beach is a must visit. The weekends could be crowded with locals though, during the week it is relaxing and peaceful. If you would relax at a pool overlooking the ocean or the sunset, The Mount Lavinia Hotel terrace is recommended. You can use the Mount Lavinia Hotel pool for an affordable fee.

More sand in the beach than normal west coast beaches. Could be maintained better. Children had skin allergy after playing in it. Not sure if it on account of the cleanliness of the water. May be because of the drainage water which is let into...More

Mount Lavinia Beach could be lovely but is not looked after. It is covered in litter and the local people don't seem to notice. It's a real shame, because it could be a great tourist attraction. The Mount Lavinia Hotel is nice and the village...More

The hotel is a throw back to a previous Colonial life and is an oasis in a hustling bustling city. The swimming pool is child friendly and it also has access to a beach where a variety of beach food is available - including freshly...More

I ate at Mount Lavinia which was delicious, but was so sad by the dirtiness and garbage filled beach here.:(

Better than Galle face green in terms of cleanliness. But there are stray dogs wondering. During rainy season the beach area shrinks by a large margin.

I don't think this is the best place for surf lessons - the beach gets very congested most evenings as well as on the weekends or holidays - further down south to unavatuna or mirissa is where I would recommend you go for... More
