Paradise Road on Dharmapala Mawatha was opened in 1994 and today stands as the flagship store of the brand. Housed in an old mansion the store sells locally produced home ware, local handicrafts, antiques, clothing, giftware, crockery and more. Frequented by locals and tourists alike, the choice of products on offer are up-to-date with international quality and design while maintaining the timelessness and local aesthetic that has become synonymous with the brand.

We visited Paradise Road post a retreat, the products are amazing but the manager and assistant manager were downright rude. They were u helpful and constantly claimed there were more clients other than us. Even though we bought product equivalent to maybe four times what the others collectively bought. The packers were great but none of the other senior staff was either welcoming or helpful. Shocking to see such disdain towards buyers.

What a great place

We had been recommended to visit paradise road and we were not disappointed. They had everything and more that you needed Some very unique pieces and alot of items that had been made in Sri Lanka. The vibrant colours and the feel of the place leant itself to go round it a couple of times so you didn't miss out on anything. We brought some vibrant blue mugs and some lovely caddy spoons made from coconut shell. These were well wrapped and bubble wrapped to survive the journey home There is a lovely and airy cafe with homemade cakes if you need a break from shopping

A lovely experience with some great items

Eventually got here (dreadful tuk tuk drivers in Colombo) and loved it. Eclectic selection of goods and a really lovely relaxing experience. Bought lots and wondering how to get it home. Good bubble wrapping though.

Be prepared to fall in love with Sri Lankan design

How can I find a way to bring everything home?! Colombo is full of wonderful surprises and the Paradise Road shops are one of them. The Paradise Road shops sell the most beautiful things for your home, more to my taste than anything I have found anywhere else in the world. At one location, there is the Gallery Cafe. A stunning restaurant that serves very good food (you must try the Sri Lankan black pork curry). This location was formerly Geoffrey Bawa’s offices. If you have never been to Sri Lanka, you must check out the architecture of Geoffrey Bawa. His influence is felt throughout the island and is simply stunning in its elegant simplicity. We have been to Sri Lanka several times and each time, we stock up on things from Paradise Road in case we don’t make it back here again. We simply love everything Paradise Road has to sell. Wish we had a shipping container and wish we could order on-line from Canada!!

Classy shopping place in Colombo

If you want to take back gifts for your family or would like to shop stuff for your home, Paradise road is the place. The stuff is priced okay not really expensive but not on the cheaper side as well. But what i really liked about this place is the stuff is classy and packaged well. We got spices, coffee, christmas decor (Yes :P ) I loved shopping here but do go before 7 PM, whole of sri lanka closes their shops at 7PM

If only we had bigger bags

Totally amazing collection of house hold goods - Glass wear, plates, serving plates and platers, lovely candle sticks ..... the list is long - in one of the shops and the next door at the other shop its a bit more art/statues/nicky-nacky stuff and loads of gift items, both well worth a visit regardless of weather you're in the market for shopping or not. Nice little cafe in one of the two shops. Staff are very welcoming (with great teeth and smiles), great service, not OTT or pushy, pay cash of credit card ........ we bought an Elephant as big as a car and they are organising shipment door to door!

Could have spent a King’s ransom here but also didn’t have the weight allowance for the flight home. Lol. Magic store on two levels, crammed full of crockery, linen, objets and other odds and ends. Some really beautiful stuff and housed in a stunning Victorian house. There’s a cafe upstairs so you can browse your socks off, recharge with a cuppa and a bite and then browse some more. Highly recommended.
