Please be warn that this main airport duty free shops selling international goods DOES NOT TAKE THEIR OWN SRI LANKAN CURRENCY and everything is priced in US dollars! It’s madness! Imagine being in Your own country airport and they don’t take your own currency?? How embarrassing and the officials should do something about this! The service was as usual very good amongst the staff. I was left with rupees as the exchange rate into sterling was so poor and you have to pay a commission unlike the high streets where it’s free. You can use Sri Lankan rupees in the other smaller shops but all prices are around double of what you pay in the high streets include F&B. Be warn and pass this onto other travellers. :-)…

Sri Lanka is famed for its abundance of precious and semi-precious stones. Sri Lankans are known for their esthetic sensibilities and artistry. And here my friends you will find the perfect mix of the above.
