Lovely Handicrafts

This is a very nice museum, with a lot of excellent art work and handicrafts. It's a bit of a hike, but set in a neighbourhood with a lot of quite affluent housing.

Uzbekistan State Museum is one of the best place to review the Uzbekistan culture and history. You will see a lot of beautiful historical artistic piece. It's easy accessible via metro in Tashkent.

The entrance as others have commented is quite stunning especially if Tashkent is your only stop in Uzbekistan. A couple of quite interesting shops as well within the grounds. Some fabulous old carpets, traditional costumes and jewellery.

This museum currently display's over 4000 exhibits and for a smallish area, they did a good job of fitting all the artworks which highlights the history of Uzbekistan's decorative art. there are sample of woodcarving, ceramics, minting, jewellers art, gold embroidery art, beautiful selection of handmade carpets. this place is certainly worth a visit if you are around the area.

This was a little add-on on our way to the airport - but what a treat! This museum contains excellent examples of local applied art and very well displayed.

A great introduction to textile and artworks of the region. The museum is basic but loads of thought into the displays. Museum is bright and airy with space for viewing of the display. Don't be surprised at the photographers fee. Exhibits of carpets, ikats, suzani, metal work, wood craft and ceramics.

This is a smallish Museum dedicated to local handicrafts located in the building of a previous Russian Ambassador. In truth would only have given this museum 3 stars if it wasn't for the glorious entry hall which in itself was worth the visit. The Museum also has a very fine selection of very old hand knitted carpets. Interesting, but not... More

The things displayed are of interest. Even more, I'd guess, if you're into local handicrafts. Also, the house in which it's built is the former residence of a Russian ambassador, who decorated it in a very peculiar way.

Our tour included about a one hour stop at this museum. I accept that's not long enough to do it full justice. We had the benefit of a guide which was vital to explaining the exhibits and their significance. I don't think a foreign visitor would appreciate everything so well on their own. It is well laid out around a... More

This museum has over 7,000 samples of applied arts. It includes handmade embroidery, skull-caps (tyubeteyka), jewelry, carpets and other examples of craftsmanship. This museum is a treasure trove of applied arts based on ancient traditions. It contains mainly works created since the second half of the 19th century with due consideration of traditional craftsmen’s methods and works of modern art,... More
