Suleymaniye Hamam is a traditional Turkish bath that continues to operate today. The building, commissioned by Sultan Suleyman and designed by the Turkish architect Mimar Sinan, was built in 1557. It features dramatic archways and domes and is decorated with elaborate marble inlay. It is the only hamam in Istanbul where men and women bathe together. 40 Euro per person. The entire hamam experience will last between 60-90 minutes.

The only hamam in istanbul where you can join the treatments as a couple. The historical building was impressive. We enjoyed the stay but don't expect too much from the massage.

We booked a scrub with massage at the hammam and very much enjoyed it. The instructions were clear, albeit in very simple English. We got towels and shorts/bikini and clogs which were slightly big...needed to walk very carefully. The hamam was hot and steamy, scrub...More

Unsure about the whole Hamam experience, we opted to try the Suleymaniye Hamam as it is the only one that offers appointments for mixed couples - all others are single sex at different times. we were made very welcome and given a comprehensive briefing plus...More

It is not very common to visit Turkish bath as a couple. Usually it is only for men or women, but not mixed. This one is for couples and only for couples, so if you are single, you should look for another one. And it...More

To the best of my knowledge, this is the only Turkish bath that allows couples. It is the only bath I visited, so my opinion is based on limited experience. It is a beautiful, historic Hamam which added to our experience. We had been warned...More

Does anyone know if you can do this without the steam room? I can't be in a sauna for medical reasons but want to enjoy the bath, scrub and massage. Thanks in advance.

If you make a reservation online, how strict are they about enforcing the time of your reservation? I.e. if we make a reservation for 7:00 pm but can make it earlier (say 6:15/6:30) do you know if there are any issues entering earlier? Also wondering if anyone tried to go at 9:00 pm (website says they close at 11:00pm and their last entry is at 9:00 pm, but the last reservation slot available online is 8:00 pm). Thanks!
