The Bosphorus cruise are of various duration. The one that doesn't appear too long and its just right to get a feel of the monuments on both sides and the view under the bridge, etc, then you take the government cruise which starts from the place where House Hotel is located. Its just under the Bosphorus bridge. The cruise is of... More

Take the Turyol boat at 15TL (less than % euros) instead of the overpriced tours which do the same thing for 80TL. Spend the money you have saved on some amazing scarves which are cheaper on the street behind the Egyptian bazaar. In addition, go to Begonville in the Egyptian bazaar for the best towels and gowns ... true Ottoman... More

The Bosphorus is easily one of the most important waterways in the eastern Mediterranean. It is the chief way for freight as well as naval vessels of Russia to make their way to open oceans. Given this choke point, there is considerable shipping traffic and after a day of sightseeing, it's relaxing to sit at a rooftop restaurant and watch... More

Take the public ferry but make sure you are in warm clothing as it can get chilly due to the wind. Worth seeing the structural beauty of the city on either side.

Many ways to cross the Bosphorus, but take the inexpensive ferry to observe numerous attractions from the water, safe and picturesque way to take many photos and relax if its too hot! Great for families.

The long boat tour is a good idea but if you get around generally by ferries, you can get great views and a slice of local life. For instance, if you've visited Dolmabahce Palace, you can go to the Besiktas ferry wharf just north of there and get a ferry over to Uskudar (the name of each wharf tells you... More

During the day of an ordinary life in İstanbul sometimes you might not have any time to feel the astonished panoramic view of Bosphorus. In the middle of dusk you will appreciate to olds for giving us such pretty awesome magneficent beauty.

We took the ferry to Asia and back as we only had a few hours during our layover from Africa to the USA. A great ride, beautiful views with mosques silhouetted on both sides, the Mediterranean in one direction and the Black Sea in another. Enjoyable and refreshing!

Staying in Besiktas

Neighbourhood Profile
In Besiktas, skyscrapers compete with palaces for space in an upscale vista replete with hilly green parkland filling in the margins. Step into this rather wealthy neighbourhood and discover a rich mix of opportunities to shop, dine, and be entertained. For folks in search of urban buzz, not to mention a constant reminder of just how important Istanbul’s waterways are to its rich history, there's the frenetic Besiktas ferry terminal or the city’s most vibrant fish market to explore. For a timeout of metropolitan proportions, head to the bucolic Yildiz Park or the chic Bosphorus-side fishing village of Ortakoy. Attractions such as the grandiose Dolmabahce Palace and a bevy of other stately residences await admiration. To be sure, this large and not overly touristy swath of Istanbul yields plenty of pleasure for all.
