I probably picked the worst day to go on a walking tour, as it was 3 degrees, freezing rain and stormy winds. Despite this, I had a great experience, since the guide was super! He was funny, knowledgable, and great to be around. Shared lots of interesting information about the sites we visited. Startes with Blue Mosque, Hippodrome, Hagia Sophia,... More

Thank you so much for the review. It was indeed a very cold wet day and we thank you for continuing with your tour despite the elements. Cumali is great fun, never a dull moment with him and he knows his stuff. Thanks for choosing Istanbul Urban Adventures and for visiting our city. More

This was like an UA tour like no other - it allowed us to explore life as a local in Istanbul and visit a centre that caters to displaced Syrian citizens. We talked to them about the hardships they have overcome - its a lot to take in and have a authentic home cooked Syrian meal. It wasn't so much... More

Even with the rain, the tour was great and the guide was able to give us a lot of insights and answer all our questions.

I booked two Intrepid Travel ~ Urban Adventure tours while I was in Istanbul. The first one was the 'Half Day Sight Seeing Tour (Grand Bazaar, Suleymaniye Mosque and Sultanahmet)'. The second tour was 'Eat Like A Local and Cultural Tour with Dinner at a Local Home'. I used Intrepid Travel a few years ago in Nepal and India for... More

While in Istanbul, I was able to go on two different Urban Adventures tours. I have toured with Urban Adventures in other cities, and know that they have a quality product. My first tour was In Focus, The Olive Tree of Istanbul. This is a new strand of tours for Urban Adventures and has a social element to it. I... More

We did a nigh trail food tour the day we arrived in Istanbul and it was the best thing we could have done! We came to Istanbul a few days after the failed military coup, not too long after some bombings and spending time with a local gave us such confidence to explore this amazing city!!! We learnt so much... More

We went to the food tasting tour of Istanbul during the evening on 1st October 2016. Our guide Emre was very courteous and helpful, and stay with us for even longer than planned. What a fantastic experience. We got to try all the local favorite foods and see the sights at the same time. Our guide Emre was very knowledgeable and could answer all our questions about local customs, traditions, religions, foods, etc. He worked hard to make sure our tour was customized just for us. We will absolutely recommend this tour and... More

We were in Istanbul during the Festival of the Sacrifice, which meant that the tours we wanted to do were not available. Upon contacting the company, we had a "compilation tour" made to show us what they could. Cumali was our guide and he was fantastic! He had such great knowledge of the history and modern aspects of the city.... More

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighbourhood Profile
Sultanahmet
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
