Divine place and a must-visit location. The place consists of mainly of ancient ruins of ancient place of paramount importance to Turkish civilisation. The tourists are expected quite a long walk because the area is literally massive with leading path to several ruined buildings but just following the path and you'll not miss anything. Densely populated with tourists so I... More

The ancient city of Ephesus is incredible! The library was my favorite. A private tour gives you personalized service and you learn the history of the city. Most tours include a traditional Turkish lunch. It's so delicious! If going during the summer, please make sure to take water and a hat/umbrella. The heat can be intense. This site is a... More

Celsius library still stands, mosaics on the walls and floors of condo type housing carved into the hillsides that come up from the water. Arcadia (ruler I believe at that time) had a pavilion of businesses with their advertisements carved in the rocks still visible and readable. Amazing gymnasiums for women and men.....terra cotta piping in homes with hot water... More

Ephesus is much larger and more beautiful than I ever imagined. The streets are almost all paved with marble . We took a day tour and the guide was excellent. Would like to have spent longer exploring the site which is meticulously maintained, but we were on a cruise and had to stick to a tight schedule.

Thank you to Tayftours for an unbelievable tour and day. From being picked up early at our hotel untill being dropped off the evening, everything was perfect. Our guide, Nafia, was the gem of the day. Euphesus gave us goosepumps, its a must see! Take camera and comfortable, walking shoes.

The trip was magnificent. As it filled with excitement and historical events. We went with the Gate 1 Travel as part of the 13 days tour in turkey and everything was so memorable.

Now that I've been to Ephesus, i believe that a day trip is not enough because there's more to see in the surrounding areas. But for those who don't have the luxury of time, the price spent for the plane tickets + the Ephesus tour is worth it. Seriously. The ancient sites in Rome and Greece pale in comparison. I've... Living history, so much detail and well preserved elements, especially liked the Hillside villas which were not excavated thirty years ago. There must be so much more to uncover that this site will be evolving for centuries. A must see in Turkey if you appreciate history and archeology!

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighbourhood Profile
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
