    A beautiful place
We visited Galata port during a light rainy day and it was a beautiful and pleasant visit. Other than the long pier and walk along the breathtaking bosphorus straight, there is a wide variety of restaurants, cafes, and shops. We spent the whole afternoon till late night enjoying the scenery and capturing amazing memorable photos.

Call this great cab driver when you are going to Istanbul!
We had the most amazing trip with our taxi driver Hayrettin YAHSIOGLU call him at 0554 197 86 73 . We got into the cab with him and he took his on an amazing four hour journey. For very little money versus the higher drivers from the cruise ship heidi took us to Saint George’s church then to the Bosporus crossing then pass Erdogan’s house. amazing view. Then we went to.Hagi Sofia area and his friend who is in the front of the line to see the cistern along the way, heidi translated with his phone and we became friends. If you go to a Istanbul, just call him and say former presidential candidate Steve Laffey told me to call you you will not be disappointed at the end of the tour we sat in a very high posh place with Fayik Abi and his beautiful assistant and extraordinarybeautiful jewelry. Wow, and we drink Turkish coffee around the corner from the four seasons hotel all in more in four hours I was amazed by his kindness in the kindness of his friends. There’s hope for every country, Steve Laffey.

    An efficient port
We came through here getting off a cruise ship and had read that it was a nightmare. On the contrary, we thought is to be a modern and well run facility. We heard complaints about the extraordinary distance one had to walk but that wasn't our experience. On the ground level, it's a mall and dining complex. We weren't into mall shopping so I can't really comment on that.

    Relax along the Bosphorus
After many years watching all the construction work , it was wonderful to visit the finished area of Galata Port. If you travel on the Kabatas tramline get off at the Tophane stop and walk across the road and follow the signs and people walking. Most of the time you will also see some of the big cruise ships moored there. It is a lovely walking area with shops and restaurants and coffee shops and just benches to sit on. It is a big area all along the Bosphorus so give yourself enough time to explore and discover. The Istanbul Modern Museum is located here and always worth a visit.

    Interesting development!
This is a nice development along the Bosphorus: starting with The Peninsula hotel (gated outside the more communal parts), incorporating the beautiful Renzo Piano new Modern Art Museum and including a nice take of the original warehouses along the water. Lots of eateries and a rather interesting shopping area: kind of department store meet shopping village. Certainly interesting to see!

    Modern and clean facility
This is a new facility and it seems they are still working out some of the operational logistics. Once you board your cruise ship it is a little bit of a walk to return to the city. Overall a gorgeous facility; very modern and clean.

    Clean and Modern
Beautiful, clean, modern port in Istanbul. It certainly is much improved over the previous cruise port with its abundance of coffee shops, restaurants, and high-end stores in a two-level mall. Be prepared for a lot of walking if you are embarking or disembarking a cruise ship or just trying to find taxis or the tram.

    AMAZING TERMINAL
The most amazing cruise terminal my wife and I have ever visited. Absolutely enormous and ultra modern. Surrounding this vast cruise terminal, amongst other sights, are a port hotel and an entertainment district with a variety of shops, cafes, restaurants, and offices.

    Galata port experience
A new place to spend good time on bosphorus. Many cafes and shops No air-condition except inside each shop but in-between you will walk in the hot weather. So it is better to go at sunset time, not in the morning. Types of shops are mainly high-quality brands, not the local ones. Good place to dine and shop.

The new cruise terminal at Istanbul is a disaster. It cost a fortune to build, loses all sense of arriving in an exciting place like Istanbul. You drive underground, you wait, sniffer dogs and customs officers wander around, you move a bit further down the road, you wait again, you disembark at one of many anonymous gates, you get off, you go through a lengthy customs screening process, then you walk miles down featureless corridors. If you can't walk well, I don't know what you do, as there did not seem to be many disability options.

If you've just arrived at Istanbul airport, which is big, you may have already walked a long way!! Then if you leave your cruise ship for an excursion, you have to walk all the way through these same long corridors again to get to the buses, then again to return to the ship at the end of the tour!

You have to have special security passes when you leave the ship and when you return, another extra little hassle you don't need!

We visited Hagia Sophia mosque and queued for 2 hours to get in, because even though you have pre-booked and are part of a group with a guide, there is no groups entrance.

Istanbul needs to review its approach to tourists. I came years ago, and loved it, a magical place. So much of that magic seems to have been destroyed because of the current approach to tourism.

Really tough as a ship’s passenger since one will have to walk at least 20 minutes to get to a tour bus or taxi after leaving the ship. Up and down escalators, through tunnels, and Turkish scanning area in a large multipurpose airport-like terminal. Ship warned us we would need to walk at least half a mile to get to our excursion bus just before our ship docked and excursions already bought which wasn’t fun for
anyone—especially those with limited mobility. There are no people movers or organized transportation for the elderly—only walking. I did see two Turkish boys with two wheelchairs on way back to ship which looked like a hit or miss proposition if one was lucky enough to see a wheelchair. People were canceling next day excursions for themselves and older family members after seeing how daunting the journey to a bus or taxi was. It was fairly appalling to see the lack of planning for ship’s passengers. Hopefully this setup is temporary since it’s certainly not passenger-friendly but it looked quite permanent.

Sertan Cakmak taxis 34 TFP 30. We used this service two days 4 hours the first day and 4.5 hours the second day. The first day, our party of 4, we were given a limited tour of sites in Istanbul. We went to two of the four sites. The second day, 2 of use, went to two sites, in 4.5 hours. We were driven to a jewelry store first each day and told we would get a discount on the $100, we were charged first day. The second day only 2 of use traveled. We were told we would get a discount. When asked the cost of day two cost of trip was evaded. We were charged $100 again.

Galataport in Istanbul is magnificent. Right on the Bosphorus, a cruise port to boot, with great restaurants and shops, and the Modern Museum to open shortly. Fantastic dining in and around Galataport, such as historic Liman Restaurant, Karakoy Restaurant, Murver Restaurant, lovely cafes. A new addition to all one can do in Istanbul!

It's a newly inaugurated open mall with the best views ever. Located near Dolmabahce Palace right on the bosphorus. Numerous cafes and restaurants. Several stores of mainly Turkish brands, but still lots of shops are to open in the future. An endless marina to stroll and take photos. Not to be missed.

There are checkpoints throughout the area, to get into the middle part where the clock tower is situated. Look for the signs cruise ship terminal. Place looks fairly new. Many restaurants and cafes. There is also a museum.
