It is certainly a nice place for getting the panoramic view of Istanbul from a different perspective, but as boats arrive and leave at given times, the excursion seems rather boring, as there are not many things to do apart from drinking and eating.

Everyone has seen the Maiden's Tower in the Istanbul Harbour. You pass by it often. It's been a lighthouse and even a prison in its past. Now it's a tourist attraction, an observation point and a restaurant. Yes you can visit it by a 15 minute shuttle from Uskudar. The restaurant serves breakfast and lunch. Dinner in the evening requires... More

You need to go there by boat, the restaurant can pick you up at the shore. Enjoy a nice meal accompanied by walking musicians. The Tower island is situated in the sea. You have a fantastic view all over. Look at the beutiful sun dawn and enjoy the sea air but don't miss the last trip to the shore! The... More

It an interesting place to see , where you will be apple to watch and take pictures of it , while taking a tour by boat around the bosphorus strait, and the famous islands , called the Princess Islands . you may book the tour straight from your hotel, or you may go down the Eminonu sea front and pick... You should take your coffee, go to the seashore and watch Maiden Tower. Listen to the songs coming from the Bosphorus. It awakens beautiful feelings.

Dad built the Tower to keep daughter safe but eventually failed ? Sounds like a good story but not sure if true. Asked several locals & got different replies Either way the Lighthouse & Tower are still an impressive sight and nowadays is a high class restaurant , didn't land but viewed from the Bosporus !!

We were told to go visit this little site - a light house on barely something you can call an island. We crossed the Bosphorous (highlight of our visit) to get to the Other Side of Istanbul, walked from the harbor to the "site" for over 30 mins. When we got to the spot, we were really disappointed. Nothing spectacular... More

This is historical tower in the middle of the sea. The view is perfect. There is also a restaurant inside the tower, which is quite expensive.

I saw the Maiden's Tower from the boat along the Bosphorus. I wish I'd got a closer look. This tower has fascinated me for years, ever since I first saw a picture of it. Unfortunately I had limited time in Istanbul on this trip and couldn't actually go there. The tower, built on a small islet off the Asian side... More

Staying in Uskudar

Neighbourhood Profile
Uskudar
Home to more than half a million residents, Uskudar on the Asian side of the Bosphorus is one of Istanbul’s most densely populated neighbourhoods. Once a Greek colony, later a haven for people from across the Mediterranean and the Middle East, this gateway to Asia has been an active and diverse hub for eons. Still, visitors to Uskudar are often more overcome by its myriad treasures than by its many thousand residents. And with fairytale settings such as the “Maiden’s Tower” as well as grand examples of Ottoman Era architecture, plenty of parks, a gorgeous and lengthy coastline, and some of Turkey’s holiest sites, there’s no end to the sightseeing possibilities. Easily reached from the city’s European shores via a steady network of ferries, time spent in Uskudar reveals a “real life” Istanbul that many who experience find extremely fascinating.
