Compared to your typical guide who simply 'transport' you to the hot tourist spots, our tour service is unique in the sense that we will enthrall you with historical snippets at every major point of interest. As I have studied Christianity, Archaeology, history, mythology (as well as other related subjects) I can help you understand our diverse history and culture. My individual approach comes from a keen sense of reality (and humour) and aims to be friendly, informative, and entertaining, with stories and conversation to illustrate the many facets of this richly varied and fascinating country..in addition to that you will also be eating at typical Turkish restaurants serving authentic food for lunch and we will show you all the reliable places for shopping hand-made rugs,Turkish Jewellery, leather bags, jackets, ceramics, Quartz tiles, Turkish Delight, Saffron, Baklava etc. As soon as we receive a request you will be contacted within 24 hours.

I'm a firm believer in hiring a private guide when visiting a new city to get the most out of it. And Ali did not disappoint in Istanbul! He was extremely knowledgeable and provided so much more information than you'd ever read in a book, as well as providing insights on history and current events from a local perspective. He... More

What a fantastic way to spend a day and see some of the traditional tourist must see attractions. We were able to see Topkapi Palace, Basilica Cistern, Blue Mosque, Aya Sofia, and Hippodrome. What is best is that we were able to set our own pace and take breaks when we needed. It was a hot day so this was... More

We had a great day seeing all of Istanbul's Old Town attractions with Ali. His knowledge of the history and the neighborhoods was incredible, and we were able to have a leisurely day while hitting all of the attractions we were hoping to see. We enjoyed our time so much we booked additional tours with Ali's company later in the... More

If you want to be sure to see the highlights of Istanbul then I can highly recommend you book Ali for a private day tour. He is very professional, fluent in English and his knowledge of the city and its history is encyclopedic. Ali made our tour both interesting and fun, bringing to life Istanbul's main attractions. We visited the... More

Ali met us at our hotel with his very professional driver Denis. The minivan was clean, comfortable. It was so enjoyable driving around and listening to the history of are. Ali is very knowledgable. We had our itinerary pre planned so as not to conflict with the tour group we were joining in two days. Ali exchanged several emails with... More

Ali may be one of the most expensive guides but we felt that we had such an excellent tour that the cost was secondary. Ali was indispensable for some of the sites, such as an explanation of the mosaics at the Church of Chora or even the unappreciated Hippodrome. Ali will individualize your tour - Just tell him what you... More

Not sure what I can add to what's already been written. We did a whirlwind day with Ali - arrived in the morning and flew out before dinner - but we still managed to have a day that was both jam packed with information and still relaxing. Ali is a wonderful guide - knowledge is deep, pacing is perfect, English... More

Over 180 5 star reviews pretty much sums it up. Ali is affordable, reliable, intelligent, informative. My partner and I spent the better part of the day with him and could not have thought more highly of him. He is a very smart man. His knowledge of his country made me wish I had done a bit more background reading.... More

We toured two days with Ali in Istanbul in May 2016. We thought he was an excellent guide and can highly recommend him. From our early email exchanges right through to our goodbyes we found the process so easy. As a private guide we had a lot of say in what we wanted to do and see but in the... More

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighbourhood Profile
Sultanahmet
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
