This place is a big contrast with all the other historical places in Istanbul. The museum has a large collection of contemporary art that kind of reminded my of the Metropolitan museum form back home. But with all that they also have historical stuff from...More

if you are into modern artists and videothings, then this is just what you have to visit. It is a reasonable big museum (pictures not allowed inside!); the prices in the bar are a bit overpriced.

Very good gallery (once you find it which can be difficult as it's tucked away near where the cruise ships dock ) - Very good turkish modern art & exhibitions - a large space

I have now visited the museum twice and am thoroughly impressed by the ever changing exhibitions. Very dynamic style. I think it is a must see in Istanbul. Also really nice, but expensive, cafe.

I was surprised to see that the collection is still rather small, and not as interesting as I thought it would be. The large cruise boats park next to the restaurant, so save your money and eat elsewhere.

But as the modern art in Turkey is moving fast, it is worthwhile to see what is going on. Location is a bit out of everything, but still easy to reach by tram.

This museum was one of the highlights of my time in Istanbul. It had many outstanding art works, complex and moving videos interspersed throughout and an outstanding (albeit expensive) cafe. Loved the museum.

This should be on the 'must do' list of Istanbul. It tracks early art in Istanbul in relation to what was happening in Paris and has great contributions from new up an coming artists

Sitting pretty with an age-old air about it, Karakoy
is situated on the European side of the Bosphorus at
the mouth of the Golden Horn. Perhaps the city’s most
historically significant area, it’s currently one of
the most happening parts of town as well. Here street
vendors and alfresco fish restaurants line the banks
of the Horn where the views of major attractions
across the water rival Karakoy’s own key attractions,

The museum is closed at the moment for about a year or more due to new building construction. They moved it to a smaller building in Beyoglu area, check their web site for new address.
