Despite only being able to see restored parts of an ancient city, everything about the place is impressive. Hadrian's temple is located on Curetes Street and is not far behind in beauty. We see an important arched portal and four columns, all the luxury of the architecture of the time. It is believed that it was built between the years 117 to 138 AD. to celebrate the visit of the Roman emperor.

Unfortunately, just a little remained from what appears to have been a very beautiful building. You can’t miss it, it’s placed right next to one of the main street. All in all, one of the most well preserved structures in Ephesus archeological site.

We visited the Ephesus ruins on 3/6/2020. One of the must stop on the main street is the Temple of Hadrian. This beautiful structure is well preserved and still has many of the original exquisite vine leaves and human figurines carvings on facades. The Medusa ornament is over the center arch. The inscriptions on the side columns in from of the temple remains empty as the original statues on them have not been found yet. Supposedly eighty percentage of the Ephesus ruins are still buried.

You can't miss this relatively small but conspicuous temple on Curettes street on the way to the Library of Celcus with its defining arch and columns.
It is a must stop for photography and do have a good camera with zooming lens to capture Medussa and the figurines at the top of the arch and its elevated section of the temple for you to truly appreciate the craftsmanship and its history.
It certainly adds to the wow factor in visiting the ancient city of Ephesus while in Turkey !

The Temple of Hadrian is one of the best preserved and most beautiful structures on Curetes Street. Above the door, a human figure of Medusa stands with ornaments of acanthus leaves. On both sides of her are friezes depicting the story of the foundation of Ephesus. The original friezes are in the Ephesus Museum where you really need to go to complete your understanding of this magnificent site. Look for the carving of Hadrian in a 4th century relief. It shows Androclus pursuing a wild boar.

a step back ın hıstory ı am, for once totally lost for words that could fully do justıce to thıs hıstorıc cıty. Ensure that you have an ample water supply and a hat or umbrella for shade from the scorchıng sun. If under ones own steam and not an organızed tour, grab a taxı and start from the back gate at the top of the hıll and just walk down. Organısed tours start at the bottom and after reachıng the top gate one has to double back to the car park

The Temple of Hadrian is at Ephesus. The friezes of the goddess Fortuna and Medusa are displayed on the wall showing the how Ephesus came to be. It starts with the battle between Hercules and Thesus and Amazon gods. Goes on to show Emperor Theodosius and his family surrounded by Greek gods and other mythological and historical representations.
