Despite the potential crowds and hot weather, Ephesus is fascinating and well worth visiting. Just make sure you arrive as early as you can to avoid the heat of the sun and the crowds. We wish we'd opted to hire one of the tour guides waiting at the entrance, as when we eavesdropped on a couple, they had some really... More

considering only about 10% of it has been unearthed , it took us over 3 hours with a tour guide who was extremely knowledgeable.. Was like stepping back in time. Everywhere is White marble so the sun bounced off it and it got incredibly hot , but there is nowhere in there to get water or any toilets. I'm a... More

If you are calling at Kusadasi on a cruise take a cruise ship excursion and visit here it is amazing, a lot bigger than we were expecting and has some impressive ruins that hold a lot of history. We were glad we visited here and you feel transported back in time. BEWARE though aggressive sellers at the end just keep... More

Simply - amazing! It was a trip to remember, it was like being transported back in the ancient times of the Byzantine Empire. The rich history of the place would make you want to know more about the place as you could have imagined. I was in awe of the entire city ruins and was incredibly amazed that early people... More

Presumably, everyone who comes to Turkey visits this place. It is a wonderfully discovered and preserved piece of our history. It is a marvel to wander the streets, past ruins, but to see how an ancient city that survived different cultures and religions, can still be imagined. Not to be missed.

Very well preserved and still being excavated. An entire city waiting to be unearthed and pieced together. Really hits home the transient state of civilizations. It was very hot and quite a long walk through the ancient city. Take a hat, sunblock, enough water and some comfortable walking shoes. Very few shady spots to escape the heat, but well worth... You can enter either through the top gate (walk down hill) or the bottom gate. Entrance fee of 40TL does not include the terraced houses (20TL extra). The Roman roads are wide and are in good condition, a few of the buildings have been restored, notably the facade of the library. The ampitheatre is also in good condition. A must... More

While on a cruise we had a stop in Kusadasi and booked a private tour with an English speaking guide Hakan (using tours by locals) to visit both the Virgin Mary House and Ephesus. Having the tour guide is a must and well worth the price including a private Driver and guide that makes the visit all that you want... More

We took a half day tour, including a visit here for about 2 hours with a local guide. We've visited many spectacular Roman sites in various countries and this is well worth a visit. The site is a good size, and there is plenty to see, but most of it has been reconstructed and / or moved around the site... More
