Spring 2016 Abu Hassan/Alternative Tours gave us a guided tour of Jerusalem and surroundings, including Ramallah, East Jerusalem, settlements etc. It was a true eyeopener and has made a real impact on us - also on our views and habits returning to Norway. Not only did Abu point out realities of the current situationand history and what to look for,... More

Our recent trip was a real eye opener. Our guide (Hassan) gave us his personal insight into the daily struggles of Palestinian people set in an explicit political and social context. He was passionate and highly informative, though he had not much to say about the built environment which was a bit of a pity. Some reviewers have said that... More

Arranged to go on the refugee tour of Palestine. The advertised price on Alternatives website is 135 ILS per person. The night before the tour was due to take place we received an email informing us that the price had suddenly increased to 400 ILS for two people and will only go down to 300 ILS if we find another... We had two tours with this company as they were based in the hotel we were using (The Jerusalem Hotel). The first was to Bethlehem, with a driver ( Mr Abu Ghaseem?) and a lady guide. Both were excellent - engaging, made us feel welcome and told us everything that we were seeing on the short drive to Bethlehem. There... More

it is a great opportunity to get a glimpse into the political and violent struggles of Palestinians in Israel and the West Bank. As a contrast to the historical mainstream tourism in Jerusalem, Abu Hassan's tour was highly informative and, to some degree, an eye opener. On the other hand, he passionately and directly presents only his view of the... More

We took the Political Tour of East Jerusalem from Abu Hassan. The experience feels more like a narrations of personal life events and emotions from the Abu rather than an objective account of the events that define the Conflict. He is very knowledgeable about every detail of the Israel-Palestinian conflict, but is too fast to dismiss other points of view... More

I went on the Hebron tour with Abu Hassan and he did a fantastic job of answering questions, providing background information, giving us time to wander and even do a bit of shopping in the old city. I was quite eager to visit the Ibrahimi Mosque and he gave us plenty of time to wander and take pictures, soak it... More

I did several tours with Abu Hassan during a series of visits to the Holy Land over the course of the last year - the Political Tour of East Jerusalem and the guided trips to Hebron, Bethlehem and Nablus were all outstanding and completely unique. Small numbers on each tour so plenty of opportunity to ask questions and gain an... More

Booked this tour with Green Olive and Alternative Tours. Such an amazing and eye opening experience of the other side of the wall. Our guide Mohanned showed us so much, and shared his personal experience and perspective. He was forthright, interesting, and answered tons of our questions. A must DO for a tourist visiting Israel that wants to get an... More

I took a day tour of Hebron to get the "other side of the story" about the Palestinian's hardships imposed by Israels restrictions on movement within their own city. It was a very even handed presentation. Once there and you see the razor wire, barricades and armed IDF soldiers you don't need anyone explaining it to you.
