A very important church to Christians. The church is located at the end of the Villa Dolorosa. Inside the church we find the crucifixion altar where Jesus is said to have been crucified. There is also a large stone where Jesus' body was prepared for...More

The church commemorates the place where Jesus is supposed to be entombed and the place where he is supposed to have been crucified and anointed, i.e., two of the holiest sites for Christians.

We took a day and drive to Jerusalem and brought the kids. We were all awe struck at the beauty of the cathedral. The crowding of the church combined with the regular church services that happen through the day closing parts of the church off...More

It's a beautiful church with alleged ties to Christ's burial. Regardless, it's a beautiful, old church with fantastic mosaics, frescos, lanterns and plenty of domed architecture. Wander through chapels and alcoves that hearken to different times from the past.

Over the years, religious groups have placed very ornate symbols on this shrine which take away (in my opinion)from the religious significance of the site. I still enjoyed the religious experience. A must see while visiting here.

I can not stress enough the importance of researching the Church of the Holy Sepulchre before you go. There are many components to the church and it can be overwhelming...you will be able to enjoy the experience at a heightened level if you research it...More

I do not practice Christianity but being inside this church gave me chills - the anointing stone was fascinating and it is wonderful to see so many finding awe inside this church.

The holiest site of Christianity, steeped in history. Will be a must see that they have now completed restoration of Jesus Tomb. One piece of advice, go very early in the morning, say 6:00 AM to avoid the stifling crowds. You'll have the place to...More
