It's a challenging walk, even if you’re delivered to the gate by a vehicle. If you are delivered to the gate, you will be deprived of one of the best photos in all of Jerusalem! I strongly recommend you walk back up the driveway, turn around, and be prepared to be overwhelmed! Entry fee is 10 shekels. There are clean/free... More

This is another church built where something holy happened. Originally this was Caiphus' house, and Jesus was held overnight in a cistern here, while Peter denies him three times (before the rooster crowed) in the garden outside. Very moving if you walk all the way down to the pit where Jesus was held.

The church of St Peter in Gallicantu is dedicated to the moment when Peter denied Jesus after the arrest. There is a wonderful statue of Peter's denial, showing Peter, the servant girls who accused him of knowing Jesus, and topped by the cockerel which crowed. The church looks out over the valley towards the Mount of Olives and the Garden... More

This is the traditional site of Caiphas' house and the jail cell where Jesus could have been held. The acoustics in the cell were great. There are some ancient steps and house ruins outside the church area.

As a Christian, I appreciated the significance of this location. But if you are not a Christian, it probably would not be worth visiting.

Don't miss a photo of the beautiful doors at the entrance to the church. In the basement, there is a pit, possibly the same pit where Jesus was held the night before he was crucified. This gives you an picture in your mind of what he might have gone through, dark and alone, lowered through a hole in the ceiling...... More

They created a church on top of the site. 90% sure that this is the real site as excavations shows that this place has pottery and silverware (steel) that could only belong to a high priest's house. It's interesting to see and go down into the house that is on the side of a hill to see the cavern where... More
