"I VISITED THIS PLACE"...
.... with four boys ages 5 to 14. It was hot and sunny- we started on the surround and circle Mount Strong hike, which is on a wide jeep road but it has total sun exposure. We didn't have the time nor supplies (and the boys didn't have the interest nor resilience) to complete the loop of more than two hours, so we did enjoy our adventure, but we turned back.... full disclosure- the same thing happened two other times in the past year- failed attempts with young charges.

ADVICES
This is certainly a well-organized and well equipped and famous nature reserve. As such, it is a good holiday spot and a good place for hiking in nature, but not far from the city of Jerusalem. I certainly endorse and recommend a visit to here.

We have hiked the path with a group of people at the age of 60th & 70th. We started at the top parking lot to the bottom parking lot. Despite rather short walk (3KM) for some of the group members it was difficult due to lot of uneven stairs. We loved the nature scenery. On the path here are several small springs surrounded with trees. Some areas are used for ancient agriculture practice by residents from the area.

Its a great place to do a nice long hike, a circular trail around a mount overlooking the Judean hills and forests, bring water with you, as in the circle there is no water faucet....has a nice parking, and hopefully the coffee place will reopen after the virus.

A great trail to hike, up to 8 miles long with wonderful mountain vistas. Great blooming of seasonal flowers (currently cyclamen) and trees. Enjoy

I hike the Sataf regularly and highly recommend visiting it if you are a nature lover and hiker.

I usually hike from the village of Ein Kerem to the Sataf. The trail is walkable and obvious (easy to navigate). The scenery is very nice.

The best views of Jerusalem and the surrounding forest. Clean cool pine air and spectacular hike. 8km hike circular route. Lovely way to get away from the hustle and bustle of Jerusalem. Go!

I have been here to Sataf a countless number of times and have enjoyed ALL the hiking trails in the area. Each hike has its own special beauty and special reward. With numerous crisscrossing trails, it is easy to put together a circular trail of any distance from 1 to 20 kilometers. The 8.5 kilometer “red” trail circling the mountain is the actual heart and soul of hiking in the Jerusalem Mountains because along the route, one can see almost ALL of the entire Jerusalem Mountains. And every view from every point is beautiful beyond words. Recently, friends of mine came from America to visit us and we took them on a circular 3 kilometer hike that started on the Israel Trail at the top of Sataf. We followed the Israel Trail south and it took us onto the walls of agricultural terraces giving us the feeling that we were walking on a tall cliff ledge, past a 500 year old olive tree, past an ancient village, and to the village spring – Ein Sataf (Sataf Spring). To go back, we hiked northward up through the parking lot until we came to a “blue” trail, which we followed eastward, taking us through the thick part of the enchanted Sataf Forest, also with ruins and terraces. No matter which hike you choose here at Sataf, it’s going to be a fun and beautiful one!

The view of Jerusalem , the cool breeze of wind, the water - you'll find it here!

There is a lot parking lot, and there are two kind of visiting this place :
1) From the top to the bottom - it starts at the head of the Eitan's mountain, and goes down throw fields and small pools. You must put other vehicle at the end.
2) Start from above, and go as far as you can. Then, climb back to the parking lot.

There’s information desk and toilet before starting hiking. The path was peaceful and clean. The easiest trail is good for everybody specially for family with kids. The view is really great. You can feel beauty of Jerusalem.
