Not in the way, but we was there

We saw three nice American Buildings in this place, but it is not promoted enough area, perhaps because of their proximity to a lot of car workshops.

This place is not only about the American. You may find the Emanuel Lutheran church and some old building that were renovated lately. From Here you may go down to the street around the "Gesher" theater and find nice local Coffey places and restaurant. It is a short walk also to the old city of Jaffa.

We struggled to find the American and German Quarter as the Street markings where not very good. There are also no signs indicating to the area. However when we did find it and the area was intreserting on what we could see. The area is under renovation and refurbishment so lots of construction and scaffolding in place. Still worth a... Go back in time to 1866. See how the special relationships between the Israel and the USA were born.

Try to imagine a group of people sailing for weeks to an unknown place. Walk through the American Colony and visit the Maine Friendship House and learn all about it.

Great place for 1-hour walk near Neve Tzedek, beautiful old houses, museum of the colony and church. Very romantic and pleasant place.

By chance we chose this little section of Tel Aviv to be our 'home' for a week. And as it has been mentioned by previous reviewers: even born Tel Aviv'- nicks may not know about the existence, though have passed by sometimes daily....as in my immediate family circle. We stayed at the American Colony Apartments, gorgeous place by the way,... More

Surprisingly, even though this place exists since the 19th century, most veteran Tel-Avivis don't know this place or haven't visited it, albeit the proximity to the extremely popular Florentine neighborhood. It's a very small block that houses many beautiful buildings, some preserved some not, that are a rarity in the Tel-Aviv landscape. If you plan to go to Florentine, Jaffa... More

This newly gentrifying section of Tel Aviv has a unique history--American Christians came here mid-century with their wooden homes on board ship and settled in the middle of the dunes to prepare the Holy Land for the return of the Jews. Even Peter Ustinov's uncle had a home here...it's an amazing bit of history that nearly no one knows...worth viewing... More
